Ok, so I'm on dexmethylphenidate now, a small dose but it's gonna get increased. I'm on 2.5 mg bid, gonna go up to 5 mg bid, we just wanted to make sure it didn't cause too much anxiety.

It's much better than ritalin in any dose. Any amount of ritalin makes me feel mildly sick concurrent with the buzz, and really sick when the buzz is gone. Focalin doesn't do that, and it has the obvious benifit of being 2x the potency of the racemic drug.

I feel mildly euphoric all day now instead of depressed. I can get lost in something, like reading... I can go for a whole day and forget where I am that's how focused it makes me.

The bad thing is.... I still have cravings for opiates!! I guess nothing I can take will fix that, eh... except a very euphoric dose of my speed like 50 mg... but that's probably even worse.

it's funny to see this med posted as my son takes 20mg a day for ADHD, and it wears off fast he is only ten yrs old and he has been on foccalin for awhile and he gets the 20mg in the morning and by four o'clock he is bouncing off the walls again, i think it only works well for some ppl bcoz he really couldn't concentrate in school and was running out of the classroom and staring out the windows for hours, his teachers couldnt handle him and i tried every med out there for him and sorry to say nothing is working for him, oh the foccalin works but not for a very long time, i don't know if got immune to taking them but it does calm him down in the morning hours. just thought i would comment since i never saw this med talked about on here.

Ask your doctor for FocalinXR. It lasts longer but has the same effect.

Focalin is a decent drug but I've found the best ritalin-type drug is Daytrana, and not just for abusing, for general focusing at all.
