I'm just making sure that everyone on here knows that DXM is not an opiate it is a dissociative related to ketamine, PCP, and nitrous oxide.SO when ingested in high dose expect a very heavy trip not a high.
Here is a link for a DXM information site

DXM can help reduce opiate tolerance. I used it for this purpose for over a year.

It is also approced by the FDA for this use.

the standard is to use 1 milligram of morphine to 1 milligram of dxm, but for some users that would put you in the dextroverse so to speak.

I have found that as little as 30 milligrams up to 80 milligrams works wonders for potentiation, tolerance control, and allowing for a normal bowel movement, even a few days after the dxm has been taken.

I finally stopped taking it every day and moved on to taking it once a week for tolerance control, as DXM seems to be physically addictive. I stopped taking DXM and the major withdrawls symptoms showed up 3-4 days later. basically like kicking effexor.

Though dextromethorphan is a dissociative, it is also technically an opioid derivative.

DXM is legally considered a synthetic opiate. It has been synthesized from a benzylisoquinoline (with a planar structure) by a process known as Grewe's cyclization (from the 1950's !) to give the corresponding morphinan (with a three dimensional structure).

Doesn't it metabolize into morphinan? Isn't that an opioid metabolite?

Ok, either way, 'cause we talk about all kinda shit on here... not to mention its a good potentiator, too.

compare DXM to morphine it feels completely different.now compare morphine to oxycodone feels similar, thats because they are both opiates.it's simple look at my avatar left is an opiate, right is dxm.See the difference?:D

Yeah agreed they feel and are completely different... but here's some info that disputes your source...

"...chemically related to opiates..." (http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/dxm/faq/dxm_general_info.shtml) (Erowid)

There are also dissociatives which are not chemically related to Ketamine and PCP. The best known of these is dextromethorphan (DXM), which is chemically an opiate of the morphinan subfamily. In spite of being an opiate, it works on the same neurotransmitter receptors as ketamine, the NMDA receptors. (http://www.erowid.org/ask/ask.cgi?ID=2351)

(also Erowid)

and finally,
Dextromethorphan is a dextrorotary morphinan, a codeine analogue. However, it does not have the normal opiate properties because it doesnÃÂ*t bind the mu and kappa opiate receptors. (http://sulcus.berkeley.edu/mcb/165_001/papers/manuscripts/_67.html)

quote from a Neurophysiology prof at UC Berkeley...

Some of this info conflicts with info I've seen around. How to resolve?

So, no they are different but related, and technically of the same family.

Hey, I'm not like most folks in my family either...:D

3MM, 3-methoxy morphinan is one of the metabolites, if i recall.
