Just doing some research looking for potental comfort meds when kicking etc..

Stumbled across a Canadian company that is producing a drug from the toxin found in the puffer fish. They claim it can dramatically enhance the chances of someone kicking dope by lessening the w/d symptoms, as well they are useing it as an alternative and paralell therapy for chronic pain managment in cancer patiants. Here's the link to there products page if anyone is interested.

this is up there with a study i saw where a doc was shooting ketamine into his patients and claiming immediate relief from depression.

reminds me of a conversation my mom and i had - she has major depressive episodes - anyway once she was crawling me about shooting dope (of course) and i tried to explain that it relieved my depression (for a long time it did)... i asked her if she wouldn't take anything to not feel like that... she says of course but drugs are bad yada yada

anyway it took me a while to convince her that 'euphoria' is by definition the opposite of depression.... she finally at least saw my perspective. so later i found out she went through a trial for amphetamines for treating depression and had to get off because they were fucking up her heart.

amphetamines before morphine? i thought that was insane (not to mention hypocritical)

sorry for derailing. carry on. . .

SG I was wondering why it worries you, should this not be a positive thing possibly giving you an out in the future if you want?

HOM I read some articles on other sites regarding detoxing with this stuff, and they do claim as you mentioned with the ketamine immediate relief from w/d's. I highly doubt it, but you never know right.

actually, they're not as lethal as you'd think... I mean, if you've never be exposed to the toxin before, then you could die.. but if you've been commonly exposed to it, you'll have a tolerance to it..

Most people who work on farming boats, (shrimping, grouper fishing, crabbing, etc) will be exposed to it.. and will get sick the first few times..

Honestly, the shit stings like hell - but working on boats for long trips (weeks, to months) for a few years and eating them (as well as other sea creatures) - it's nice to know that it'll take more than a small amount for an assassin to kill me with it :D

It worries me too. What happens if they invent a painkiller that's the most effective other with no side effects and is nonnarcotic? Suddenly opiates are no longer medically necessary (doubt this will happen EVER in a thousand years, but it STILL scares me), and they're banned. No more oxy, morphine, fent patches on the black market.

fuck it.. I'm much more comfortable putting a chemical in my body that is derived from a plant that has been used for thousands of years to relieve pain, depression, psychosis, anxiety, even tuberculosis as well as recreations, than a posion from a fish that I wouldn't even rish eating. I swear the powers that be are trying harder to eliminate opiates than they are to find cures for cancer, disease and aids.

sounds like a ploy from the pharma companys to get more money and bullshit us.

its kinda funny how oxycodone has been out for over 10 years now and all the shit it has caused to say the least. and then suboxone comes out and yet anouther way for the big pharma companys to make money on us no matter if we are using or trying to get or stay well. bastards.

Isn't a puffer fish / blow fish a delicacy in Japan that only government-licensed chefs are allowed to prepare because of it's toxicity? I'm not sure if I'd want to put that into my body. What the hell, everything else goes in.
