First time I've ever seen this pill from Purdue labs. 400mg -600mg of oxy in 1 pill!?!? Am I missing something?
I bet you have to have cancer to get these prescribed. Also didn't know they make 60mg OC's.

Anhydrous is not a substance. It is a state that a substance is in. It basically means that a substance, maybe a drug or chemical, that contains no water. You are thinking of Anhydrous Ammonia, that is what is used to make Methamphetamine. Anhydrous Ammonia is a fertilizer.

Lots of substances can be Anhydrous. Anhydrous caffeine is dry caffeine, like a powdered form. Anhydrous Ethanol (Alcohol) means Ethanol that is purified; contains less that 1% water. This is one of the types of Ethanol they use for fuel. There was an old medicine that was used for stomach problems, actually used to be OTC, called Paregoric. Well it contained Anhydrous Morphine. The label actually said this. PAREGORIC [Anhydrous Morphine 2mg (from Opium)]. Inactive Ingredients: Alcohol 45%, Anise Oil, Benzoic Acid, Glycerin, and Purified Water.

Syn is right this medication has nothing to do with OxyContin or MS Contin. It is an extended release version of an old medication used for asthma and COPD called Theophylline. The medication is actually called Uniphyl not UniContin. UniContin is the patented name of the time release matrix or controlled release system. Purdue patented it and called it UniContin Controlled Release System.

Roxi is the woman! A walking drug genius! LOL

Yeah, I don't think I could frame on of them 160mg oxy's. Sure enough, I'd be going into withdrawals and it wouldn't last 2 seconds! I don't know how people can do that. Just like the folks who have a loved one pass away and they flush bottle after bottle after bottle of narcotics. It just totally freaks me out.

I think what you're supposed to do after someone dies is take their pills to the pharmacy and they dispose of them. but if you ask me, I'm sure the people working there dip into those pills as I don't think they keep track of the trash. I know in illinois the government or whoever only keeps track of the CII drugs.

Damn, I've been tryin' to avoid telling my doc here about my COPD. Middle stages between chronic bronchitis and emphysema...

Opiates have that huge, DO NOT TAKE IF BREATHING PROBLEMS EXIST, warning, and I know some people will use that against me. So what, if my breathing is a LITTLE shallow, keep that fuckin' narcan away from me!!

They actually use opiates in really bad or end stage COPD to slow the breathing. See our discussion about aerosolizing morphine and fentanyl in the Fent forum.

Look at the ingredients before you assume what is in a medication. The fact that the name contains contin indicates it's probably an extended release med, but says nothing about what kind of med. Secondly, did you REALLY think they would put 600mg of oxycodone in ANYTHING? Come on. It's really easy to look up what's in a medication. Try google next time.

I'm just glad that all he did was make a post here and talk about it. Just so you know, I'm no talking about you HMSO, but I'm sure that someone, somewhere saw this was called UniContin and made the same assumption you did...Can you imagine if they assumed it contained oxycodone and ended up shooting it or snorting it? I bet that there is someone that has been stupid enough to do that.

You are right except for one thing. The tablets on the page are clearly labeled Uniphyl Tablets(Extended Release Theophyllline). UniContin refers to Purdue's patented time release mechanism. I guess this thread shows one thing for sure; and that is to never assume that a medication is something else because of it's name.

Yeah you are right Roxi. I didn't word that as well as I could have. I was more saying that someone might see that it is called "unicontin" or even just see the word "unicontin" and make the assumption that unicontin is the same as oxycontin. Even one of our own fellow opiophiles that knows a little bit about opiates made this mistake and thought that it contained oxycontin. If a member of opiophile could make this mistake, it wouldn't surprise me if someone out there saw "unicontin" and snorted it thinking it was oxy. I bet that would have been funny to see...

You're right on TT!! A good lesson on why you should do everything possible to positively identify the pharms you have before ingesting them. This medication, Uniphyl, is for COPD. It does however raise your heartrate and BP so if someone who had high BP, a heart condition, or was already taking a stimulant type medication took this thinking it was Oxycodone they could have experienced some pretty ill effects, up to and including heart attack or stroke.
