Wow! Suprisingly Ray was a damn good movie. Never knew he was a junkie, a blind junkie at that, a blind black junkie musician living in pre-civil rights america. See it its real good. I know that popular biographies arent normally that great but trust me, I cant think of one reason why you wouldnt...

That movie was incredible, I have to fast-forward thru the w/d part cause it makes me sick to my stomach. Very well portrayed.
I always wondered how a blind man would shoot up?? how would he know he was in a vein? How would he know how much dope he is cooking, and how would he know when to stop cooking his shit? Crazy stuff man....

Yeah. Definately different to prepare in injection than playing piano without sseing. Thing is the piano is accessable with the senses a blind man has, that is tactile and audio. I think for a shot this would never be enough...
But didnt they have the liquid H in that movie? I remember the very first time he makes them fix him up, they had this big bottle full of pharma heroin and put their needles in there getting a fresh shot. So he maybe didnt need to cook it up? Just load the love-gun and shoot. That was in the 50 or so and in the 70s, when the liquid H dissapeared he probably was so rich already that he could pay the dealer an extra three zeros to sell him liquid H. Even today they smuggle it liquid sometimes ...
I found that movie kind of long. We watched it in the cinema and after 2 hours I was afraid it would go on like that for ever. Especially because the movie stops in the 70 or 80 or so. The 80s were shown after almost 3 hours or so and I was doing the maths like, until his death it would have been 2 more hours...
But how did he find a vein ... maybe he had very big veins? Then he could have felt them and blind people evolve better tactile, so maybe thats not impossible .... And for the amount he could just have had an x ml syringe and when he laoded it completely then he knew he was at x ml.
But I was wondering how it felt for him to be on dope beeing blind especially when youre almost ODing....

I have to disagree with you on that, cause it showed him cooking it up in the movie. It even showed 3 little bags filled with "white powder" that he drops on the bathroom floor and needs his gilrfriends help to find them. Its just mind-boggling....
