What's the highest Meth dose you've heard of?

In Oklahoma, the clinics woiuld cap at 100 and then increase based on trough-level tests. But above 120 was rare. In a Northern state where I am now, they have no such rules and I have heard of people at 500mg. I personally KNOW of a person who was on 360mg. I have heard of people in the north of thailand being on 1000 and more daily. What's the highest dose you guys have heard of?

That 1000 mg is totally unverified. I got that off the internet a few years back, but it was from multiple sources that looked legit. I dunno. I don't know that there is a ceiling for methadone. Do you? The 360mgs I KNOW was legit. I saw it. The place this guy went to is notorious for high dosing. I have heard as high as 500 (not verified) from that place for hep and HIV patients. Don't know why that matters. One guy claimed to have a confrontation with the doctor there because the doc kept pushing raises up over 100mg. "Over a hundred and you're here for good," is what was said was said.

a habit that requires a gram of methadone to maintain isn't totally unbelievable or impossible, just unlikely and rare. I could imagine that some addicts with huge addictions maintaining on methadone everyday for 10 or 20 years who experiences sharp increases in tolerance would need around half a gram to a gram of methadone to maintain. it sounds ridiculous but it is not unusal for patients to be on multiple grams of morphine daily. tolerance to methadone happens fast.

also, some people are on medications that decrease methadones effectiveness, which would require the user to take larger doses.

hey can you give me a source for the law that says there is an 80mg max in PA?

Doses of 200+ are regular. 180,240 I have seen 240 myself dispensed to the person in front of me. The Clinic has different size bottles for take homes. 1200mgs was confirmed by a RN at that Clinic. there is a clinic in Chicago that you can find some very high doses, that's where I heard of a 3k dose. Since 2001 Fed laws have changed there are no Federal Law that caps a dose. Clinics can set a dose cap but it is not a law.

In my area of the Uk I have never heard of anyone being prescribed more than 100ml of methadone a day.

I've read about a terminal cancer patient who took 1000mg+ of methadone per day. Actually it might have been 4000mg, i can't remember but it was alot. I don't know if it was true but It seemed legit. I can't remember where I found it though. I've heard of people taking more than 8,000mg of morphine a day as well. Someone in my family used to take 360mg a day. 120 in the morning, 120 in the afternoon and 120 before bed. It wasn't for narcotic addiction though, it was for chronic pain.

I lived in Akron Ohio and was on the program for 2 years and was at 210.It was off the hook! I never had a clean urine the whole time.They figure that if you are still shooting dope then they should up your dose,and it works.I could shoot over 100mg dose rather easily but when I got up to 140 and 150 forget it.I finaly got tired of jumping through the hoops so I jumped off at 100mg.When I was on the highest dose I could not feel much of a high but it did some weird thing to me.If swim smoked crack he could not feel it,go figure.I had to quit driving because I never knew when I might fall asleep.

Every doctor, even the best, have their own preconceived notions about what things are reasonable and safe for both you and them....and what things are not. Those do not necessarily match the individual reality for all patients, since only the patient themself really knows for sure what is correct....doctors are there to provide decision-making assistance, but of course they act as if they were omnipotent gods.

Wow!!! 1000mg of Methadone in a day is off the hook. I juat can not imagine it.

Some time ago, my doctor told me that there was no limit on how much methadone a person could take, as long as you had no serious respitory depression issues. I take 160mg daily. In rare instances, when I was having a really bad day, pain wise, I have taken as much as 360mg, in a single dose. To me, however, it seems that anything over about 240mg is a waste. If anything, when I am in allot of pain, the extra dosage may have somewhat of a placebo effect, but I don't really think its does that much more for me. Of course, mileage will vary.

that's part of what i'm worried about with the option of methadone -- that it won't provide adequate relief and there will be no effective breakthrough options!

Methadone is a great analgesic. And, breakthrough meds will work. I take morphine when I need something extra. But, you will basically lose the ability to get any kind of real euphoria effect from most anything else. I have read here that some drugs work, like demerol, for instance. Never tried it since I have been on Methadone.

Very Very carefully! :( I don't get constipated, but there are times I wish I were... the details are horrific.... let's just say, it gets really "hard" to deal with, if you know what I mean!!!
