Codeine in Germany

So, basically, does anyone know if I can get codeine OTC in Germany (Berlin) without seeing a doc?

I'm over here for 4 weeks with enough kratom for maybe 2, if I have the will-power to be barely well the whole time. German websites (which I can hardly read) seem to say codeine preparations are not OTC, but I thought I'd heard differently before.

If I can get it OTC, does anyone know a specific med name I could ask for or how to go about requesting it? All meds seem to be behind the counter and going in demanding codeine in broken German might not be the best way to actually get some.

Any help would be much appreciated.

You have Valeron in there... but that is not OTC also, and i think codeine is not too. Go to a doctor for dental/back pain, and tell you are allergic to aspirin and paracetamol gives LOTS of stomache aches.. You should get tramadol or codeine/dhc or valeron N ;) Better than codeine for most..

Well the problem is my insurance is pay up front and be reimbursed, and I have basically no cash, what I do have goes to cigs and beer because I'm an idiot. So seeing a doc is going to be very tough. And I don't know if kratom is illegal, hadn't heard that but it may be true. I know one person on kratom-forum claimed their shipment had been siezed when they sent it to Germany. And the last thing I want is to be kicked out of my school program, lose the 5k it cost and possibly be expelled, or somehow punished at my actual school for shipping myself illegal drugs (if it is illegal in German).

Thanks for the advice though, I'll have to resort to one of those options if codeine isn't OTC. It's that or fail out my program for freaking the fuck out in withdrawals and not being able to do shit. I'm hardly motivated enough to do my work when I'm well or high, there's no way I'll be able to kicking.

No, no valerian here, i meant what i meant: Valeron: Tilidine. Better than codeine for me. Used to love that high when taken with st john wort for enzyme induction.

Some drugs in europe are cheaper than cigs and beer, like diazepam for instance and most benzos and codeine containing meds..
Try to go to a pharmacy and talk them into selling to you something that you used to take in the US of A and you didn't carry it with you and you know no doc in here. The pharmaceutical professional, are kinda like doctors, they can "prescribe" things for you..
Try to talk them into it.. Never tried in german but you might be lucky.. Europe is not the USA, pharms are less expensive in here, really less expensive... And try talking pharmacy pros into selling to you something to you used to take in your home country and you don't want to go to a doctor and you really need your meds, if your pointing into benzos or tramadol and codeine meds you might get lucky...

I buy 20x50mg tramadol with 2.7€ and 20x30mg of codeine with 2.57€ and 40x10mg diazepam with 1.05€.... 14x20mg temazepam jellies with 1.14€..... Pharms are cheap in Europe, this is not the US of A.
And where i live, i usually talk pharmacy pros into selling to me without a script.. and i usually get lucky ;) And if i get a script i got a 40% discount on the meds...

Although most of the above is true (less expensive prices ect..), I don't really think you're gonna "get Lucky" enough to be gettin the pharm. pro's giving you prescription medications w/o an actual script they're not "kinda like doctors" at least not just when it comes to prescribe medications or provide "fake" Rx's, Germany's a serious country I really don't see them breaking rules that easily.
Your best bet would propably be going to see a doc. you should have access to some kinda medical assistance in case you need any kind of help..also..as DCBA said..Europe is not the US and I'm pretty sure you can go to some general doctor w/o spending a dime and possibly get what you need/want.Legally.

Well, i'm not too sure about the rest of Europe, but Ireland is pricey as hell for OTC meds.

You can get codeine OTC up to 15mgs codeine (that would be Syndol - the least seen and probably most wanted OTC med here) and mixed with APAP, etc.
Anything more than 15mgs , will require a prescription.
The last time i saw the price of Nurofen Plus (12.5 mg codeine+ about 100mg Ibuprofen) it was something like 9 euro (about 14 USD or 6£UK, i think) for a pack of just 20 of them!!
I think it costs even more than that these days. If 20 of them was enough for anything, then maybe it would have been worth it somewhat, but even 20 of them probably wouldn't do shit for most people here.

You could basically add another 7 euro and get yourself a 15 Euro bag of gear. Still not much, but at least you would probably feel it, unlike the codeine.
Oh, and it's not just codeine.
Simple APAP/Ibuprofen like Panadol, Nurofen, etc. costs almost as much as the preparations with codeine.
But then again, everything is very expensive over here. 7 euro (about 12 USD) for a pack of cigarettes.
Housing prices - i don't even want to get into that.

But we do get all of our methadone (and subutex) completely free of charge. Don't have to pay for any GP visits/consults if it has to do with addiction treatment either. In that sense it's cheap to be an addict here. (a government-sponsored addict, that is )
They do provide some rehab places free of charge too, but there is usually at least a month or two waiting list for that, just like for methadone i guess.
And where does the money come from for all that - the taxpayer, ofcourse.
So i guess that's where we get all our steep living costs from.
Not that i'm complaining - i guess that would make me a hypocrite :rolleyes:

Apart from codeine linctus which is 600 mgs of codeine for about £2.50.

actually it is called valoron (tilidine is right though) afaik the most prescribed opioid here. good stuff

In my country you can convince pharmacys docs to sell you anything that doesn't require a triplicate/duplicate script. Like you can get all benzos except flunitrazepam and CIII meds (like codeine + paracetamol) without a script... All you have to do is talk your self thru it nicely...

Ok man, I didn't say you lied or were just talking crap..but we were talking about Germany, where they know what severity is, especially when it comes to making sure that people obey the rules..what I'm saying her is ..I really don't see a german pharmacist selling you prescription medications even w/o a script just cause you asked for them gently or nicely..especially to a foreigner who can barely speak a fluent german.Do you live by any chance in Eastern Europe?Cause that may be different..or maybe Spain or Portugal?Oh..btw,I don't get what you meant with "EC rullings"..

Well, thanks for the help guys. I decided to man up and just kick the kratom I'm been on 3 months after tapering onto it from pods. And, it was surprisingly easy, just smoked and drank a lot and it was relatively painless. I had all the symptoms I had with pods, but they 1/100 as severe. Now 7 days clean, going back to the states in 2 weeks and hoping to chip then. I can't live like this 7 days a week.

Give yourself at LEAST two months of no opiate use before you start chipping, or you'll be right back where you started. I would wait even longer, like six months ideally. Just remember that the opiates aren't going anywhere, you'll be able to get high your whole life and all you have to do is wait a bit longer to make your life a shitload easier.
