Ohhhhhh yeah!..... what a way to kick!! absolutely NO choice in the matter,couldn't get bonded out for SHIT!! so, I guess that's what it took for me to do it! While I was in a white 4x8 cell with just me and an itchy wool blanket I thought I was going to lose my frickin' MIND!!
And as usual,it happened outta nowhere,one minute I'm free when a cop asked me my name/next minute I'm clinging onto bar's screaming ,"whaddya mean WARRANT? Whaaaat fuckin' WAAARRRAANNNT!!!"....bouncin' around like a frickin' dopesick PINBAll with noooo wayyyy ooooout for four lonnnng dayyyyyyy's!! That was four long day's of "AAAAAARRRRGHH!!!!"
God what a nightmare man!! So,now I'm free obviously,or I woudn't be postin' this!! So lucky to be free right now considering the amount of charges I'm facing (12!!) and freedom feel's GOOOD! I want to get high but I am so hesitant because that's what led me down this road in the FIRST place,man!! Man,why can't we get high without consequences!! W.T.F !! So,tell me fellow opiophile's.....I know some of you can relate!!:o

Been there, we have a place after your booked it's called the tombs your in with 15 other Junkies kicking. Then off to rikers where they have Meth if your lucky. I was so sick after 5 days I couln't score myself. God that was so bad the weird thing was a whole bunch of people had drugs on them in the lockup, pot, crack one guy shared a bag with someone.

ive kicked so many times in jail it not funny the first time back in the late 70s they gave us liquid darvon twice a day , it did help some , i got a few codeine several times for other ailments i had at time but mostly cold turkey , cold sweats aching all over walking the cell all nite long draped in blanket counting the perforations on the ceiling tile ect ect. and after i get into it they always put me in a cell by myself, the worst time i didnt start sleeping more than an hour for about a month , the only place i would bee around people when kicking id turn myself in and it would be a dorm with 80 dope fiends in various stages of recovery so there one got help because everybody knew exactly what was goin on, cold turkey works but it sucks

I mean jail scares me pretty bad, but not having methadone is worse for me. The jails here are hell too. I've visited friends in them and they don't even have any phones to talk to your buddy who's in jail. You have to like use sign language because the government is too cheap to fix the phones.

I have some hellish experinces kicking in jail and other times not so bad. A little tip say you are scripted HIGH doses of benzo's 6mg Klonopin and 2-4mg of Xanax for example they have to medically treat you because benzo withdrawl is lifethreating along with alcohol w/d. You have to use your pharmacuetical knowledge sometimes to get help for heroin w/d's in a different fashion. Usually for the alcoholics they get the usual green and black caps of Librium, but last 3 week stay I did I was on 1mg of Klonapin 3 times a day, 10mg of Librium 3 times a day, .1mg of clonadine twice a day. The used to give me Trazadone for sleep but they discontinued that last time and I was using a A-Typical anti-psychotic for sleep on the outside and being as cheap as jails are of course they didnt carry the newer much more expensive A-Typical anti-p's so they put me on a conventional anti-p [Haladol] in doses way to strong for me and it fucked me up bad I was in a dream world for a week so strange I might have wrote about it somewhere on my JunkyLife blog but if not I will as it was an insane experience although it did wipe out my w/d from 32mg of Suboxone which at the time I was chipping with heroin also. In Chicago county jail you would see the craziest things this one big burly black dude would be like watch this and the nurse had her little silver cart with all the pill in dixie cups on it he went up to her and knocked them all over, he got held down and they gave him an injection of Thorazine and put him in an isolation room. I walked by 5-10 mins. later and he gives me a thumbs up and a big smile. Fucked up shit so many people doing the Thorazine shuffle in the med units there. That guy ended up being a good friend when we were transfered to the same unit in general population. He brewed a mean Hooch [jail booze] and got me drunk a few times for nothing. I could go on and on but you get the idea...

Now some county jails Chicago for example let you continue your methadone maintenence IF you are already enrolled in the program, and crook county also tend to be a little more updated on there meds than the surrounding richer counties, backwards eh'. Detox for heroin in Chicago [Cook county aka crook county] tend to give you clonadine, phenagren, librium and something else I forget at the moment not much and the detox is short. Last stay in Chicago county I was able to score 20 bags of heroin in exchange for 2-3 packs of 'cadillac' cigs [aka real packs] or 5-6 packs of roll-ups and a few candybars and chips and what not. Toothpaste caps full of weed went for a couple packs of roll ups and a candybar, crack was similar in cost/bartering/trade as heroin.

Dont quite remeber antony if it even was Forest Park, I should remember because I grew-up in River Forest but that time was such a haze I dont even remember which city it was. I could go break out my 8-10 inch thick arrest/lawyer/paperwork file and dig it up but it depresses me looking in that. It was a nice city lock-up though. They had me in my own private cell or I should say room, it didnt have a bars for the gate rather a steel door with a small reinforced glass window. No air flow it sucked, I think they put me in there because they knew I was going to be a mess. It even had a pay-phone in it. Typical jail toliet and steel bed, they feed me with McDonalds in the morning like I could eat. Just the smell of it made me dry heave and start puking foam.

They toss you into a tier with nothing, 2 man cells have 5 brothers sleeping on the floor, I went in there with nothing first night told a brother come up off a sleep mat he had 3, second night saw another brother with like 4 blankets, I was like you are comin off one of those, by the 3rd night I had a bunk not the floor, Brothers were rappin calling me mighty White was semi funny...

They have found ways with toothpaste caps to stop the cell doors from locking at lockdown so as soon as the tier guard leaves they just open the cells turn the tv on and dance around like natives...laff

As for the food its only sanwitches, that they cook in the toilets with toilet paper as fuel into some shit called pigs in a blanket,when asked if I wanted any I was like are you fucking nuts you cooked that in a prison toilet...Pass

I tend to think of myself as tough enough to handle my shit in that situation, but being in severe chronic pain I don't know how I'd handle being without my meds *AND* having to find a safe spot in the prison pecking order to keep my anal sphincter from being expanded.... :D

I was in court with a friend he had 71 counts agaist him and I had showed him a little bit about what to say and not say... the judge was so mad he told him to leave the court room! I thought it was all good until the judge said take that toothpick out of your mouth, which he did, therefore creating a contract with the court and by that one action of compliance lost the ability to 'not' be affected by the law. By removing that he allowed the judge to have jurisdiction over him and then in the states law he could now be tried as a corporation.

I can really relate to your awful experience going cold turkey unplanned. Although I have never been in jail ("KNOCK ON WOOD"), I did try going cold turkey off Methadone because it was causing problems in my marriage and my wife was fed up. I lasted about 3 days cold turkey and I was so sick and delirious that my wife was afraid of me. I wanted to commit suicide because I couldn't take the withdrawals any more. I'm not going to describe the horrible withdrawals I was having because you already know. I always say that nobody knows what being awful sick is unless they have kicked opiates. My wife and I decided that I would continue taking Methadone and I did for awhile until Suboxone came along. I'm currently taking only 2mg daily of Suboxone and it works well. What do you think about it?

Rumble - I went through a similar cold turkey attempt with Methadone last year in 2005; BIG FLIPPITY MISTAKE!!! I was dosing 20mg a day and jumped like a MORON (repeat : MORON) on a Tuesday, and it wasn't until Friday morning that my world turned into an upside-down delerium ass fest. Suboxone was my saviour as well, but that wasn't for quite some time - for some reason I rode it out for about a month. It's not something I recommend, but it is one way to live.

What an ASS I was to do that; I then was prescribed Suboxone, Lexapro, Valium & Ambien - with booze and smoke on top like icing on a cake, I was almost worse than before!

everybody tells me it's worst county jail in the state and I have never herd of a worse one by anybody. At the time I had a script for oxy 80's 3 a day plus, daludid 4 for breakthru I was doing about a bundle a day or so, plus my trusty valums 4 a day. I was in the worst habit I ever had, cant forget the zoloft 2 100's the zoly WD lasts forever it took 30 days before I got that. 3 guy to a what was designed to be a 1 man cell plus people in the park, or day room. they did give me libreim and catapress but it was not good. The up side was I was only 1 of 3 dope sick guys in the cell 1 toilet, had to do 8 days in intake before I got moved, no shower,except cold water on a floor that was just foul I was not goin to use it less I shit myself yea I had to shower wash my draws at the same time the 3rd day in. I did have about 50 oc 80 just were home and even if i had them droped off i would not get them anyway.
I am a cronic pain guy, so at the time I could get the good shit by script, support warrant and they forgot I was there for 45 days and no smokes eather well a few but it still sucked. The doc told me I might have a WD problem as they don't serve any narcs at all, but gave me lib for the benzo wd... the worst WD I ever did...and I been there a few time, last time I went through a week about 2 weeks ago, no problems. I can't work and am playin hell gettin on ssdi but I think aside from a traffic ticket that just poped up I should stay out for a while, but I'll tell ya raw dogin it in county is hell, Atlantic county in NJ is a rough stop with out being sick. A buddy just got out last week, a B a day habit... I'm just on perky 10 and val now so life aint so bad, hurt more than when I was on moriphine and dillys but wd don't suck as bad, but when stuff gets more stable I'll probibly be back to the strong meds but I don't want the hell that can pop up and bite ya because your broke, get a few fines payed and the support thing strightined out, got over charged for 3 years so that one will be fun, but that is going to be the bigest cluster I got going and they dick ya the worst,wate a week to see the judge, no cash see ya in 2 weeks, no credit for your time, at least fines ya get 50 bucks a day credit. I have been dryed out they county way a few times, I wouldn't do it to people I don't like

I had to do 60 days in jail on one occasion and i knew that i would have to do the time when i went to court and all that good shit, so i had my lawyer and my DR. call ahead of time for me to go in and tell the bastards that i had to have the xanax. Well of course they wouldn't give it to me. I had a seizure and it ended up with me being in a coma for almost 2 weeks. At the time i was prescribed Xanax 2mg four times a day = 8mg day. At the time i had been on the same dose for well over 10 years. The stupid ass jail guards thought that i was faking the seizure or something and proceeded to kick the living shit out of me while i was unconscious or in the seizure. Well after they finally figured out that i really was having a seizure and they fucked up big time, I finally got my pills. i should have sued the hell out of them. That was several years ago and i didn't know what the hell i should have done about that. Well i know now. STUPID F**KS.

Yeah, in theory they're supposed to bring u ur methadone to the jail here, but it usually doesn't happen...it was actually better before they had all these private clinics...the state run free clinics actually would see that it got delivered to the jail, back in OCJ days, anyway, we always thought it was cool kicking back in the felony tank, getting the morning dose. But somehow or another the private clinics, fuck the whole jail setup now, just too overcrowded and guards, naturally, they don't give a shit...

My Judge in Colorado post Katrina had his hands tied by a deputy DA.
