this magazine has always been one of my interests as far as periodicals are concerned.
it almost now has more relevance to the world of entheogens than the current articles that have been published lately in the entheogen review..

anyway, this recent issue has about 4 articles regarding iboga rituals. front and back cover photos in full color and nice black and white photo documentation on the inside.

a very interesting and well done issue.
as far as avialable iboga related literature is concerned this issue is surely in the top 10 published works concerning iboga that I have seen.

for the last few years shamans drum magazine has backed off on the sweat lodge and new age subjects, entheogen related articles now dominate the magazine, and in my opinion this has added alot of depth to the authors coverage of the healing arts/shamanism "scene"'s out there.

they dont touch much on vedic cultures, hinduism and eastern practises as much as I would like to see, and lately much of the focus has been on south american shamanism and ayahuasca ritual work, so this departure into coverage of the little understood heart of the Bwiti religion is both a suprise, and welcome addition.

my interest is once again pulled into the direction of iboga, too bad its not legal where I live.
I have tried some of the various plants that are not scheduled that contain ibogaine and iboga like compounds, and really not had much interesting or potent effects.
having a child may be looming in my future, as I am getting into the "middle" age area of my life, and I think that taking iboga to get clean of kratom and other opioids would be an educational experience in the very least.....spirituality may or may not be part of that experience, who knows, I am not deficient in my spiritual life, nor am I looking for a new avenue, but I am open to the many forms of plant medicine work, and am willing to open my mind and heart to a new experience.

I tend to be a very lightweight psychedelic user, I tolerate medium to heavy doses well enough, but I find suffering and delusion are many times the result of too high of doses. almost a gram of mescaline left me very sick with heartburn and nausea, but literally no open eye or closed eye visuals, this was a san pedro enema from peruvian grown cactus powder. this stuff was potent as hell, and I should have done alot less.
I have found that my mind will meet almost any dose, the smaller doses can be expanded upon, and my clarity of vision and mind seems to make more sense for a mind expanding experience.
so I think when it comes to iboga, that I would like to experiment with low dose therapys, and smaller doses mixed with meditation/walking meditation.
a few years ago I had some very small amounts of ibogaine in a root powder that a freind brought with him from overseas. but the dose was more of just a stimulant dose....... still, above the city in the desert foothills, I did notice an expanding component to the material, and my body felt powerful, but slightly dizzy... most of all, I notice a serene peace and laid back demeanor that is not always present with me.

somewhere in some old antique store here in the USA, there is probably an old tin of ibogaine pills from the early 1900's, or a tincture bottle of iboga alkaloids left in some formulary/apothecary shop.
if I ever find something like that, I really wont worry much about past due dates, iboga doesnt diminish in power that much I have heard.

I've always wanted to try ayahuasca and mescaline. Even thought about trying some ibogaine when I'm finally confident that i wanna quit the opiate game. Heard that stuff has a tremendous success rate, kicks the shit out of your habit instantly and really takes away the WDs, almost changes you into a new person with the visions, insights and the experience.

and even stops w/ds From kicking in...leave it to the u.s. to make it illegal....
has anyone had experience with this regarding quitting opiates?
i cant believe they dont use this drug more to help people.

This stuff is legal and available in Canada but its fairly expensive about a $700/gram i think. Thats a bargain in all the money you'll save from not buying smack. Never had experience with it just heard it's excellent and seen some documentaries on it. It IS the cure for opiate addiction from what I've seen.

As much as it is incredible (or at least seems to be) from what i gather ibogaine is not the 100% cure. there is no such thing (that we know of yet)
Ibogaine does not work for everyone. Initial will of the 'patient' to get clean (and most importantly stay clean) is as important as with any cure and there is a considerable number of failing stories with ibogaine too, even deaths, where it was used in shabby hotel rooms with unexperienced therapists.
All that said, from what i've read so far it is certainly nothing short of a miracle for the people that ibogaine actually does work. It is a very interesting and totally understudied compound that should never have been made illegal in certain countries.
I am pretty close to actually seriously considering ibogaine therapy myself.

Some of my friends are using microdoses of iboga root powder to stop craving from tobacco, and it seems to work very well ..but as the metabolites (the main is noribogaine) of Iboga are staying in your body from at least one month, you have to be really cautionnous not using other drugs that could interact with it ..
But leaving the opiate game with Iboga is another question ...
As much as it is incredible (or at least seems to be) from what i gather ibogaine is not the 100% cureCompletly agree with it ; that's what all my Iboganauts friends says ....

Iboga can work, but it's far from being a magic bullet for addiction. It's more a last through of the dice for the desperate and in those circumstances......what ya got to lose?

i have seen lot's of encouraging things on ibogaine, but this chap at least thinks it's not all it's cracked up to be. he gives 1st hand account.

wow, that last treatment description was pretty raw,

raw in the sense that the author is an idiot.
how can you put so much blame on other people?
these people risk prison time for doing this type of research.

its funny to hear someone bitch about not having money, and not getting a ride to get methadone, when the whole point of detox is to get off the shit.
of course they arnt going to help you get dope/methadone, with iboga still in your system, you could die from and overdose easily.

someone this concerned about their own welfare should have checked into a clinic.
but maybe this was before that time.

it seems to me that this person expects too much, and it also sounds like the dose of iboga was not sufficient.

I have known one person that had complete absence of withdrawl from a 10 year heroin habit, he had a spiritual experience connected with Judaism, no withdrawls. he just quit cold turkey, no withdrawls.
he checked into a Jewish church, and has been there ever since.
still, he doesnt claim that connecting with a Jewish god is a sure fire way to quit dope.

maybe people should take claims that people have on a more person to person basis.

another thing to stay away from is coffee!!
coffee contains antagonist opioid lactone compounds, and can disturb the stomach and such.
her bad reaction could have been from drinking coffee while still on iboga!!
it could have been her fault all along?
