Has anyone noticed that of all the opiates Oc's are the only ones that give you the upper or speedy effect...dont confuse this with useing...any opiate while sick because obviously your physical abilities are way increased when going from dopesick to woooooweeeee....

I get a stronger feeling of speedy on hydrocodone actually. Hydro will keep me awake while I can sleep great on oxy.

I find tramadol - particularly in conjunction with another opiate, speeds me up for about five hours. Also, PT is very speedy for the first few hours.

tramadol is most speedy for me, really any opiate can be speedy for me if i havent used in a long time. even if something keeps me up all night it generally is a good feeling and i still feel rested in the morning...

many opiates can cause this "paradoxical stimulation" one theory is that the bound opiate/dopamine neuron receptors in the ventral tegmental region of the mesolimbic system can cross stimulate each other, so taking an opiate can purportedly release dopamine into the bloodstream...
this is best outlined in a book called "zen and the brain" by neuro researcher James H Austin.
in "part" of this area morphine can be administered chronically and when stopped, no withdrawl effects are reported...seems like a great place to start when considering drugs to help with opiate addiction.
I expereinced some incredibly intense paradoxical stimulation when I was using heroin. taking shots all night long trying to get asleep, sweating buckets, shooting smack, and staying wired. thing is the same dope did nothing to my freinds but get them high....rack it up to variables in human physiology.
I think that this paradoxical stimulation is one of the addictive natures of opioids, at least contributes maybe to opiates ability to lend focusing power for some people.
Ill take an opiate anyday for ADHD over a stimulant.

Thank you Jacky first off all for creating this forum I've only been here roughly a week but I do thouroughly enjoy it so thank you. Thanks also for sharing that information....I found the "focusing power you mentioned to hit very close to home because during my probably comparibly much shorter carreer with opiates(going on seventh year, the last two being a casual user again with the exception of a few screw ups) I was more focused and "successfull" in all things I pursued at the time...keep in mind this was the time of two eighties or fifteen stampers a day... and while I was the Exec. Chef at a busy three star restaraunt with a staff of twenty or so the rest of my friends were basically waisting away in the sense that they lost their zest for anything...the dope didnt accesorize anything hobbies and what not...
Unfortunatley the saying that opiates take everything and leave only insurance against sickness is true more often than not....
Sorry for the rambling but an old friend came to visit today...
Thanks again for your hard work on this site if you are really it phounder and I start a new job on Monday so after a few paychecks I'll definately be donating to this site...I think its going to be a truly useful tool for years to come.

Snorting oc's definatley is speedy, almost like coke. But taking it orally is sort of the opposite for some reason. I think this is cause when it is snorted or injected you get a spike in dopamine like cocaine does then it goes way down causing the hangover feeling or cravings. A chemistry book explained this and said that after chronic opiate use the brain is low in dopamine causing lack of motivation, lack of intrest in sex and general apathy.

i agree with this:D
the only time i get a "speedy" effect from opiates is when i snort oxycodone, but when i take oxycodone orally (like you should) i dont get that speedy effect- jsut the good feeling relaxation opiated effect:)

I can do anything after snorting an OC, be it work, study, sleep, anything. I have the energy if I need to do something, and if I want to just relax I can do that too.
I feel like shit if I just swallow an OC...

I find all opiates to be stimulating. That's the reason I enjoy them so much. I don't enjoy sedation at all. I really dislike it. I find Methadone to be extremely stimulating, and Oxycodone to be equally stimulating when I didn't have such a tolerance. Morphine has not much effect on me, and Codeine doesn't agree with me. Dilaudid is pretty useless (orally) but has a small stimulating effect. I also found Demerol had a speedy effect. I used to take speed everyday so I know what a speedy effect is. lol. I'm not just making it up. I truly get a speedy, stimulant effect from opiates. Mind you, the effect wears off as the drug wears off and I become sedated towards the end of "trip", at which point, I usually nod and pass out. But 80% of the opie trip is stimulation for me. I'm very ill and fatigued all the time and opiates give me the only energy I have. I would be in bed 20 hours a day if I didn't have opies.

the "speediness" seems to vary for me a great deal depending on what i'm doing, where my tolerance is at, which opiate/oid i'm taking, and my general mindset when i consume 'em. whether i'm feeling "speedy" or not, i generally will stay awake for long stretches (a few days at a time) unless i'm nodding. usually i conk out pretty hard when i finally come down enough to do so, with lovely opiate/sleep dep-inspired dreams. i also have lots of nifty daydream-type bits running in my head for much of that wakeful time. good stuff!
Ive kinda been through the whole gamut of effects. When I first started oxycodones about 4 years ago I couldnt sleep for the life of me and it wasnt a bad thing either (I'm thinking of the first time I took 5mg) then about a year or so into it I was binging and would take the oxycodone and it was all I could do to stay awake. I mean it would hit me and then I had problems keeping my eyes open. I've been trying to clean up lately to get more of an effect but it seems that now they dont last more then 2-3 hours and then I get rather irritable. And yea, I still get energy when I take em, but not like I used to and also I no longer get the incredible urge to pass out either. (that was rather weird actualy, not being able to stay awake). Peace, love and opiates. :p

I find that it depends what I do directly after having my hit. If I sit down read, watch telly, listen to music, smoke some dope, drink some beer etc then I'll sit and have a good old gauche but if I settle into some practical activity like ironing or hoovering or whatever then I'll have more of a speedy effect. In fact when I first started dabbling with gear I was amazed that this was the case.

oxy is definitely known for its stimulating edge. among those of us with chronic pain, when one is lucky enough to have a doc who isn't swayed by the bad name OC has received in the media.....it's often prescribed for those who find other opiates too sedating. I personally think it would be a big help to keep me from getting so damn tired on a regular basis as I often am with morphine + hydro!
