Back when i was trying some... psychedelic materials i bought a pack of Dextromethorphan pills (dexalone). They have 30mg of DXM in each pill and ONLY dxm. I also figured out what the name ment a few months after having it, i was cleaning my room, looked at the box and realized it said DEX (Dextromethorphan) ALONE - Dexalon, you have GOT to love that! Well i was wondering what an ok dose was when being sick. Im not exactly trying to use it for a..... stronger affect but 30mg doesnt ever seem to help much when im coughing (i read an article saying doses up to 60mg were far more affective). I get sick a lot due to asthma and where i live so i decided to maybe try this as aposed to using other cough syrups. 60mg safe to use once a day for a week?

it is common for doctors to prescribe heavier versions of OTC medications. when i had bronchitis last summer, i was prescribed 60mg dxm/120mg pseudoephedrine/200mg (i think) guaifenesin pills that i could take either 2 or 3 times a day. so there is a precedent in higher doses if you're sick.
