As stated in my "I be new here" post, I recently moved down to Texas, about an hour from Austin. I have no med coverage, and finding low income docs around here is near impossible, let alone trying to get them to understand my CP and script opies.

I'm (desperately) waiting for my final script of 120 percs from my old PM doc to come in the mail, and only able to take 1-2 vics every couple of hours cause they were prescribed to a friend and their worried about addiction (ha! 2 little, 2 late).

Anywho, I'm considering checking in to a done clinic in Austin, I'm just worried that once I do that, BAM!! drug abuse will be on my record, and I'll have to drive 2 hours everyday just to get it. Just curious if anyone finds the pain relief from 'done worth all the trouble. I take about 50mg of oxy at a time, 4 or 5x a day, so I'm not a heavy user, but I have a 'built-in' tolerance to all things good ;)

Any suggestions?

Thx,

Nd

get on suboxone. you dont have to drive every day, and its way less hardcore than methadone in that the withdrawls are way easier and you arent upping your tolerance 30x over by taking methadone for a percocet habit. all the pill poppers i know love suboxone.

Hmm, I'm sure there's sub clinics in Austin but haven't looked around. Aren't they WAY more expensive than done clinics? And are the effective for pain at all?

Thx,

i don't understand the hoo-haw about bupe in any form
i've tried suboxone three times
and the useless shit refused to even take the EDGE off my sick
one time in a psych ward
i was given shots of bupinephrine (spelling?)
cause i was doing mad h before i went in
and again, didn't even curb the symptoms
that shit is totally worthless to me

Ya, that's what scares me. Getting labeled an 'abuser', and finding out that the cure they give me costs more and is just as useless as asking the quacks around here for relief. GOD, I'm almost to the point of asking for tramadol, and that shit is nothing under 400mg doses for me.

Side note, I do take more oxy when I can, but they're usually percs and I'm usually watched so I can't CWE. I've gotten up to around 10g of apap, but no way am I doin' that every day.

I'd look in the weekly newspaper for those ads in the back. Around here, it's called 'Today and Tonight' or "Eugene Weekly" or "Creative Loafing" One of those newspapers.. and in the classifieds.. they usually have ads for the local methadone clinic, sub doctors.. and then you see one for "pain mangement clinic" $150 initial consult.. those guys are your best bet.

They'll even help you get proper records too.

i tried to manage my CP with oxycodone...at around the same level you are taking now. i found a pain doc who put me on 'done with oxy for BT pain and the combo works much much better than oxy alone...for me methadone works great for my chronic pain (dosed 10mg 3-4xday) with the addition of oxy for BT pain relief is awesome...

so to answer your question about 'done - for me it works well, i don't know how once daily dosing at a clinic works for pain though...i say just stick it out and start searching for a pain doctor since you have records and CP

also, i tried suboxone and subutex for 7 weeks and found it to do nothing for my CP...but for some, buprenorphine works well for pain and is used in smaller doses as a analgesic- sold under the name temagesic IIRC

Well once (and IF) I find a good doc down here, should I just start with the perc 10's and move up slowly? My PM records show that I'm not flagged, and biofeedback, meditation, and tramadol are useless for me, so hopefully a doc who's not afraid to script opies will work with me.

My PM doc thought it was possible neuropathic pain, but did write that I find percs helpful, I'm just trying to find someone to continue from there. I'm really reluctant to try a done clinic, but if it comes to that...

IMO try to hold out from going to a meth clinic, especially if you have a long drive. Most of the time those places are only open in the early morning. You will also feel like a slave after a week of the shit. My pm doc prescribed me meth and it worked great for my back pain. I only lasted on it for a month though due to side effects.

I have a sub doctor as well. I find subs to be great and am maintainin now with 2mg a day. I have some people who say they don't do anything for them as far as w/d go, but they have worked great even coming off a bundle a day habit. They dont do shit for pain. If you have insurance or can get patient asssitence program from the manufacturer that would be way cheaper than done.

I have found that some doctors are pretty leaniant with prescribing methadone in smaller amounts. If you have some sort of records like you say, you shouldn't have a problem getting percs or oxycontin. Tell him you are concerned about your liver. Most docs wont do shit unless you have records and that is your ticket to getting scripts.

Be careful about making that decision of getting on meth though. Once your on it for a week or two you are going to have to make that trip everyday to avoid some nasty withdrawal. That is some nasty shit. Your best bet is to find a pain management clinic and bring your records. The visit might cost 100$ but its probably going to be worth it

Ya, I'll stay away from the clinic's as long as possible. I definitely wanna get opies legally because of pain, and not because of addiction. There are enough PM docs down here, and even if I have to drive a couple hours, the appts are usually only once or twice a month, hella better than jonesing EVERYDAY.

Thx for all the help, I have lots of friends with their own vices, but none that deal with CP, or experience talking to docs.

Hmmm... Try to look up some CP boards (there's a lot of them. Most of them has nice 50-50 mix of real CPer's and pill-poppers in serious denial) Ask there if anybody know a good (cheap) doctor in that area.

Have you looked on the site? There's lots of posts and stickys about how you can find an ehm "compassionate" doctor ;)

Also, I know of a "physician-referral" service online, that grew out of the old internet pharmacies. You pay 100 bucks a visit, but he'll definetly hook you up with some Vicodin. Possibly even something stronger, if you have good records. There are a few referral services on www.drugbuyers.com

Fuckin' A!! I got my scripts in the mail today, got my Elavil filled fine, but NO where around here will fill the percs, because it wasn't written on a "CII" script! I've called my doc in NE twice, and they said they just changed prescription pads April 1 because of the new regulations, and if anyone has a problem they can call my doc and he will verify. NOPE, I can't get it filled. FUCK! I don't have a PM doc down here yet, and obviously can't go back to NE just to fill it, man shit just keeps gettin' better and better.:(

Well, bitched to soon. I got fed up with this shit and made an appt for a pcp around here, paid full price but fuck it. He read my PM records, checked the script and re-wrote a new script for 120 percs. I have a follow up appt in two weeks to make sure "I'm okay" and transition me to another doc (he's leaving in a month, dammit!), but he was VERY understanding.

He strongly recommends I see a PM doc down here, which for some reason none of them would take a referral from up north, so in a half an hour I got more accomplished than I have in the whole month up to it.

Anyway, I'm VERY opiated now, still feel the pain, but who cares? Not me right now ;)

Thx all,

Yep, and once I get 'established' at a PM doc (after a few more perc rx) I'm gonna do what jimmyfingers suggested and start 'worrying about my liver' hehe. Then I won't have to worry about the damn tylenol holding me back.
