Hi.
I just joined this forum.I was a local at another one,but it wasn't opiate/sub specific, and I was tired of hearing about somebodies boyfriend who smokes too much pot,and about people addicted to caffeine.
I'm a sub using/trying to kick a 5 + year hydro/morphine/percocet/xanax/valium/steroid habit(in that order approximately)
I'm trying my second trip thru the suboxone deal, this time for maintainance rather than a quick detox.I went about 25 days sober before I realized I had been on Hydro waaaaaayyy to long to turn it around in 10 days.
My doc started me at 3x8mgs a day,but I've been trying to taper down a little faster than he wants me to.All the sub users on the other forum swear that you feel a LOT better once you stabilize at a low dose...2x4 to 2x2 mgs a day.
I'm down to 16 so far....got down to 12 yesterday but syarting jonesin' again about 4 o'clock today so I did my full 8mgs instead of 4 tonight
What are the RULES of this forum ...what can you and cant you post???
The other forum banned some of the most informative people for trading links on places to GET HELP.They weren't swapping dope, pharmacy URLs or anything.....I have a feeling some of the member moderators weren't digging the opiate people(all the banned people were sub users....hmmmm)
anyways..Hi wasssup!

It looks like this forum is where you need to be. There's no rules here specifically. We're here for the trading of ideas and experiences related to opiates in general. This includes recovering from, being hooked on, finding sources of, researching new kinds of, and pretty much anything opiate related.
There's no 12-step garbage here. We're not promoting ass-kissers. The opiophorum is here because of the lack of resources on the web for those who are hooked on opiates or who prefer to stay opiated. Don't worry about what you can and can't post. What we ask is that you use common sense - don't post anything that's going to get us shut down (like you're going to hurt yourself, or where you're going to meet so and so for a buy, etc...)
We'll be posting a message about the general use of the forum sooner or later, just not quite yet. We just switched from using a free, open-source forum to vBulletin, and will be creating new topics and shifting around old ones, adding new info, etc. We're here for the opiophile. We're here to present new ideas about being opiated, whether it's dope or sub or some of the newer opiates (see jacky's posts....)
I'm also on suboxone. I'm going about it maintainance, just like you in fact. 3x8mg's a day and loving it. I occasionally miss the good shot of dope, but I think I'm where i need to be and don't plan on going back anytime soon.
I'm curious to find out how you found us? Are the search engines finally getting it right?
Spread the word, will be nice once the ball is rolling here.....

Hi Bi11i,and all other opiophiles (good word!)
I found youse guys on Yahoo by doing a search...I think it was subutex+forum.
I had heard rumours about other subutex/opiate forums on the Healthboards.com addiction and recovery forum page.
I was temporarily banned for posting my e-mail address. The funny part was,I was trying to get some information to a couple of people about how to find help getting off dope...imagine that!!
I learned after I was "banned" that I actually could have posted the URL of the website because it was a .gov .You can post .gov's and .edu's,but no .com's or .org's.....talk about jumping through hoops! sheeesh.
A LOT of people are doing subutex these days, and there are a lot of inquiries about side effects, dosage,WD's,etc. I'd say subutex issues takes up about 1/4 of the strings. The stuff is so new,and the Docs are learning from the patients.....the people on it are the experts!!
I got un-Banned by promising to read the rules thoroughly and reform my ways.
I'm a 5+ year veteran of the pain/painkiller cult, following a fairly long drug/alcohol free life after....hold on to your seat...RECOVERING from alcoholism,Cocaine addiction(not "in recovery"...recoverED..)
That is another point that's being kicked around on that board, and I imagine I'll be banned again for my viewpoint on the subject of the semantics.
I spent most of my young life in and out of drug addiction facilities.I was a physically addicted Alcohol abuser, and a ruthless cocaine abuser..1/4-1/2 ounce a night at the end.
I hung around the 12 step society that every rehab/half-way house/counselour/ and judge pointed me towards for 10 years!!!!.I really wanted to quit, but I always ended up back at their meetings.
I'd always end up leaving out of frustration.I wanted to talk about getting off of drugs, but the focus seemed to be on everything but...,and the occasional person who showed interest in Helping me was usually some older divorced woman,or some Homosexual predator type man.
I Finally found a HARDCORE 12 step group that did the 12 steps exactly as they are outlined in the first 164 pages of the Bigbook. It was like being in a christian church for a decade and finally realizing who Jesus is/was by READING the BIBLE!
I had that "burning bush" kind of experience.
I did the "work" as they called it,like a madman....wrote reems of inventories, made every amends...the gnarly ones...robberies,violent attacks,burglaries..even to the Los Angeles police Department(Boy was THAT weird)
Anyways...I learned through self evaluation..that I wasn't an Alcoholic as they define it in AA...that was liberating.
However..I still relapsed into drug addiction, even after all that work. Now I was reeeeeally scared and twisted.
I eventually drifted away from AA ,and oddly enough, though I'd occasionally get loaded for a night,I never went back to the place I'd been before.
I got married, had a great job and 2 great kids...I could drink normally(wow) and turned down dope every time it was offered...as soon as I left the "program" all of its' self-fulfilling prophecies were void.
Than I had a series of accidents at work.My life was cruising along just beautifully, but after recovering from the pain and surgeries(2 years and another long story later) I had discovered that Hydro/perco/morphine way of becoming super-employee,super-dad,super-athlete etc.
I never really felt like I was getting high.I never ate them to get buzzed...it was more like the way modern athletes use steroids...just thought I was getting an edge.I'd see people at work taking them by the handfuls to get F'd up and I'd be incredulous.
I was over-achieving to make up for the loser-criminal-drug addict I used to be.
Anyways.....I don't need to fill in the rest.I finally knew I needed help so I checked into a detox this July, doing about 10 lortabs a day,30-70 mgs of morphine, taking xanax to stop the shakes, and steroids for my voice(I'm a singer/songwriter) and etc.,etc.etc.
I couldn't stay sober long...remember,I used dope to cope, not get high. After detox when it came time to cope again,my head was F'd up.
I've done a lot of web research and I found a lot of info on the chemical changes in the brain after a long dependency and they are now saying that Subutex/suboxone need to be used for MONTHS not days for the brain/body to get a chance to normalize.
I was given a lot of crap in the 10 day detox for NOT saying I'm an alcoholic and for not wanting to do their meeting thing.I've also found there is now a huge movement afoot to dispell a lot of the myths of AA/NA.
If we're allowed to post links,I could direct you to tons of contrary opinions on the question of alcoholism/drug addiction.
I don't think it's a diseas after all the stuff I've read.I think it's a problem that can be resolved,as I've resolved equally if not more destructive ones.
This viewpoint is what will probably seal my fate on the other board.Too many people subscribe to the program...with it's 3-5% success rate.I need better odds than that.
sorry for the book..aaahh that felt good .....haven't been able to "air it out" in a while
I promise NEVER to write a post this long again
