My doctor lets me get tussionex or vicotussin once a year. Well with tussionex 1tsp is = 10mg hydrocodone but its time release. I had read an article that said coca cola (soft drinks in general) can make pills be absored faster (because of faster disolve rate maybe?). I also have read that it is corrosive. Well last summer i did a test when i had broncitus (when i get really sick i get the stuff) i only used a little and had most left (tussionex). I put 5ml into a cup of coke and left it over night. THen the next day i took it and it felt a little stronger then usual but didnt last as long. My question is whether or not this would start to break down the time release coating over a given period of time by whatever means or is it time released because of the cellular structure (like NApsalate as aposed to hcl). I did feel a difference but it could always be that placebo affect.

I love tussionex, when the bottle is full, i just drink enough to get the effect even with time release, i just love it, it is so sweet you can just taste the big granuales of sugar in it, and the stuff here tastes like coconut, as far as getting around time release i havent a clue maybe coffee drunk with it would disolve it faster just an idea.

I used to get that for bronchitis too, and I absolutely loved it! Hell, I thought the timed-release was one of the best things about it. I'd just tug on it until I started feeling righteous, and I wouldn't have to worry about it for 6 - 7 hours. If I remember correctly, the active ingredient is called "hydrocodone polistirex" or similar, and from what I can gather that polistirex form is what makes it timed-release, so I have no idea if it can be circumvented. Even if it can be, I would never do it, I like the long-acting effects!

I loved it but it's some dangerous stuff. There is WAY too much chorpheniramine in it. That stuff is bad news. Sometimes it makes my stomach numb that tussionex.

The stuff I got only had Hydro and Guaifanesin in it, is that what you are talking about? It's a harmless expectorant, to break up the mucous and shit. This was on the little drug info flyer that they gave me. Never had any gastro problems with it myself.

No. That's different. You try and get them both so you can take the tussionex and add the regulare hycodan.
