Whats up everyone? TO BE CLEAR: NO I AM NOT INTERESTED IN ANYONE'S MEDS. I have a question.
I have always been curious about how meds are dolled out in the military in this day and age.
If you are a marine on the ground in Iraq, do you have morphine ampules on your person at all times in order to help your fellow soldiers if shit hits the fan? Percocet or Vikes?
Is there a small pharmacy that gets sent out on patrol with a platoon? Or do they tell troops to tough it out until they can get med-evac?
Seems to me like they would be inhuman assholes if they didnt doll out Xanax and valium to troops who are recovering from a firefight.
Any troops or Iraq vets want to tackle this one?

Never been to war or even in the army.
I'm not 100% positive on this, but i think the UK marines carry Morphine auto-injectors. I think you just sort of 'stab' yourself with it in the thigh or shoulder (into the muscle basically) once you get badly injured, or have someone do it for you. I think they carry them as part of their survival/med kit whenever they go into battle.
I know for a fact that during the WWII it used to be morphine syrettes which look like small tubes of tooth paste with a needle on the end that you use to also insert into your muscle and then squeeze the tube to release all the morphine.
As far as med dispensation, i'm sure they have a medical base for each division, and doctors that look after the meds like opiates that are needed for further treatment.
But those survival kits are standard issue
I 'm pretty sure it is the same for the US marines and other countries. And i REALLY doubt that any soldiers are given IV vials of morphine, for many reasons but mainly because it 'would not be very 'practical' (to say the least) to be trying to find a vein on the battlefield.
Percocets or vikes though??? I REALLY doubt it. Not effective enough.
I think Morphine is the Gold standard painkiller in the army for most of the countries. In fact, if you really dwell on it Morphine is almost synonymous with war
Personally, If i ever joined the UK marines, i honestly don't know how long i would last before trying that auto injector on for size. I doubt i would ever see battle with it,.
Maybe you could just say that you've lost it?? (again...) :)

I would be real surprized if the U.S. military acted humanely in the least.
Xanax or Valium after a fire fight doesn't sound mahcho enough for the
military mind set. Probably most of the real Delta Force types would
rather bite on a bullit than have pain killers, I can't explain it ,its just
what I'v seen. If I get shot there wouldn't be enough drugs in the world.

I actually just had this conversation with one of my friends. He just got back from his second and final tour of Iraq. He got a piece of shrapnel in his thigh during one of the firefights and he said they kept him loaded full of morphine when he was in the field hospital. He said the medics all carry little ampoules of morphine with them but he got injured at the very end of the fight so they just brought him to the hospital. He also said that sometimes a soldier would be all shaken up after seeing some fucked up shit, like one of your friends get his head blown off, and the medics sometimes gave them a shot of something that totally calmed them down. He didn't know what that stuff was, but I'm thinking it was Ativan.
I know some vets from Nam and they just give them shitty seroquel or something gay
they should have an open ended script of what ever the fuck they want for doing what they do in my opioion
