View Full Version : Sub-script-shun Threads- NOT about Subs or Scripts

Ok... recently I've noticed when I hit "New Posts" it is behaving differently. Before, it would show ALL posts I have not actually opened up and read, even "unread since your last visit" threads. Also, it would NOT show threads that I have already read.
Now... it shows me only the threads that have been posted since my last visit, & it shows me threads that I've read/ responded to already.
Anyone know if there were changes recently? My paid-membership status lapsed recently also... maybe that could have caused the changes?
The "New Posts" button is showing only 19 threads... before it would show 100's of unread threads. Maybe not as many people are posting, or the mods are "cleaning up"? ;) J/K.
Sorry for the dumb question and hope SOMEONE understands what I'm talking about... hard to explain, but it's throwing a wrench in my gears. How can I efficiently fuck w/ people if I don't even know they posted??? :p

I think I know what you mean. I don't think I could really explain it myself. I am too retarded today.
Something is different though.
Aren't you glad I posted that eloquent piece of babble that really did no good? Goddam today sucks.
^^^ Haha.
I-Nod, where is this "new threads" button? I guess I am a computer idiot.

^^^ It's at the top of every page, just below the O-phile banner. There's "Home" ; "User Options" ; "Search" etc.
And upstate... actually just knowing I'm not the only one helps a little. And I'm ALL about "useless drivel", as my posts have unanimously proven :D

Yeah, it seemed to have switched a couple weeks ago for me too I-Nod. The main thing is it shows posts I've already read when it wouldn't before. I don't think it's related to your subscription, it seemed like the format changed after it went down once to me but I could be wrong.

Awesome thx.

I just wish it could be fixed. I come on in the a.m. hoping to see lots of new threads, etc and I end up with just 1 or 2 pages worth. So, you aren't the only one to notice.

I think it got switched from posts you haven't viewed (has to be calculated for each person every time they load) to posts that are actually the newest (same for everyone) because it's less strain on the server. This is the post that led me to believe this (Feb 16, I think same time it changed):
It sounds like the server has been going down off and on - I made some changes and turned a few things off to see if we can better it. Send on a PM if we're missing something that we really need.

yep, me too. now when i hit 'new posts' i only get one or two pages where as before i would get several pages worth and i could go back to dates in the past where i may have not had the chance to read the posts. now, it's so limited.....and it's only the past day or so of posts rather than the past few weeks.
what happened?
it's kinda stinky

I'm SO GLAD someone FINALLY asked. I've thought about asking for a while but I figured I fucked something up in my settings for o-phile somewhere. It really sucks because a lot of times I don't have time to go through everything (I get interrupted a lot or I have WOS - wife over shoulder) and I like to go back and finish threads that I haven't read all the posts in (that aren't necessarily NEW).
Hopefully one of the mods/ops, Bi11i or somebody can fix this! As others have stated here, I liked it the way it was configured before.

Right on!! Good eye, mate.
Well, if bi11i did it, then that settles everything. :D Hopefully nobody PM's him to even ask... just glad he hasn't pulled the plug, personally.
