I have started experimenting with this extract combination lately, catuama is reputed to have a cross tolerant effect with morphine. experience with the extract months ago was positive, but I was also using kratom and poppy seeds with it, I was able to cut dosage of the opiates while using catuama...
the extract is one of the best stimulants I have ever taken.
now that I am on morpine everyday I thought it would be a good time to test out the extract for any possible opiate potentiating qualities, .......so far so good, I took two pills 4-8 hours ago and I have been itching and euphoric all night. I will continue this regimine and see if I can cut my dose significantly of the opiates and keep using the catuama to try and counteract any negative effects.
the extract is very expensive, so I am working on a co-op project to make a similiar type of blend of the 4 herbs that comprise catuama , then I will be able to experiment freely without paying too much.
this blend is a damn nice stimulant....I also took rhodiola rosea, an adaptogen stimulant that is also suspected of some type of opioid activity, perhaps the two together are more potent. really I need to take the extracts together, seperate and just about every way in between to focus a clear picture of just how the extract effects me. I figure a solid month of taking the extract should give me a pretty good idea. so I will continue to report on this throughout this month..............

day two of taking catuama.
I took double the daily reccomended dose again, earlier in the day.
I am taking only the normal amount of tea today, and havnt taken any potentiators/herbs like kratom. I was almost sick a few hours ago with what seems like an increased reaction to the normal daily dose. still, this could be a hangover from last nights mix of herbs( dan shen, papaver rhoeas extract, chamomille) but I dont thing so. I think this catuama stuff is a fairly potent potentiator of morphine/codeine.....
only time will tell if this effect is repeatable, but if I keep feeling the way I do I am going to have to lower my tea dose and stay away from other potentiators. If catuama helps a person cut the dose of opiates they are on and still feel good enough to push through the day then I will be using the stuff at least two weeks out of the month, dropping dosage, taking catuama, then stopping catuama, and increasing dosage of opioids for increased analgesia
no telling how this catuama might potentiate other opioids like matrine, the kappa/mu active alkaloid found in sophora subprostata.....

That sounds really interesting. You're always trying all sorts of herbs and extracts. I haven't even heard of the Catauma. So it has a stimulant effect? What would you say it's most like. Is it a harsh speedy type stimulant feeling, or does it just make you feel more alert without the euphoric rush of a caffein/ritalin/speed type thing. I'm alway interested in stimulants that dont have that kick to them. I would like to find something that helped with energy but didn't make me feel like I had been smoking crack for a week. I never have any energy, i spent most of my time in bed watching tv because i am so run down. I'm going to start researching natural approaches to battling fatigue. I'm sure that there is something out there that is just as useful as the conventional treatments for extreme fatigue, (amphetamines, provigil, certain anti-depressants, caffeine, methylphenidate) but without the euphoric buzz. If you can think of anything that could be of help i'd give it a try. I have a sensitive central nervous system every since I got sick so i can't take anything like kratom or coffee or any of the above. Keep us posted about your experiences with these herbs and natural things. It's always interesting to read about it. Goodnight

Great work you're doing here, Jacky -- keep it up! Innovation in the opiophile's world can only be a good thing.

catuama is a mild stimulant, more of an adaptogen....the consituents are pretty common, ginger, guarana, mura puama, and catuaba....something in there is either effecting the opioid receptors directly or indirectly.
catuama seems to work for me

yeah, the name catuama is an indigenous tribes name for the material, the name Catuama is also trademarked. this commercial catuama product is expensive, if you use twice the reccomended daily amount like me it would cost 40$ a month.....
this is why I am planning on making my own extract and seeing how feasable bringing another commercial product to the market is. I imagine that I could produce a similiar 15 grams of product for less than 5 dollars, and be able to pass on some savings and still double the money invested....then a months worth would cost half as much. I think alot of the cost of this commercial catuama product is in the packaging and shipping of packaged product from south america.
I could see pulling off an exploratory extract run for under 160$ for everything including the solvent, and a possible yeild of 160-400 grams of finished product, so the price per gram could be almost a 1$ or down to .30$.....but that it paying for retail priced herbs, if the extract is a "go" then bulk amounts could be purchased and the price might drop 25% or so....
what is needed really is for a chinese company to take interest in the blend, and then extract a boatload of the stuff and send it stateside. then a months worth of catuama might cost 10$.

Hi Jacky. I liked ephedra's effects, too. So, this Catuama you've found, can we find it in a health/herb store or is it ordered from some other site? I'd love to try it, too, it sounds great, so far.

yes, there is one company that I know of selling catuama extract, actually they have a trademark on the name. the extract was named catuama my a group of indigenous peoples, so the name is historical. perhaps the company reimburses these people for using the name and original recipe?
the extract is expensive, 13-18$ per 30 260 milligram pills.
the ingredients could be bought seperate, most of them as extracts, and mixed together in a rough approximation to the trademarked product for cheaper than the packaged, gell capped, blister packed is sold for.
the health food store that I suggested start carrying the product miss-labeled the boxes when they came in at 7.95 instead of 17.95, so I was stoked to get it for awhile at a decent price.
a company called botanical preservation corps carrys most of the ingredients needed to produce catuama.

Thank you very much, and would GNC carry it, you think? I'm looking forward to giving it a try....
Oh, and I read your "horror story," and I am so glad you are in better health (I'm hoping). I really felt terrible for you when I read that, not pity, just human sympathy. Can't believe the cops can get their jollies treating hurting people that way. Sad commentary on the state of our jails. Hope you stay well and never go back there ever.:)
