Suboxone is fucking expensive in the US.. For me to get treated I had to pay a 300 dollar consultation just so I can talk to the doctor in the first place, then it's another 100 each visit which is every day for a week, then once a week for a month, then goes to once every two weeks, then once every three weeks or/to a month. Each 8mg suboxone WITH insurance is around $8-10 a pill. This is why I may go on methadone treatment..

PsychotiKK - Yeah, sub's are 'spensiv allright - but $8-10 a pill? Retail? I'd expect to pay that from a dealer, on the "street," but at a pharmacy?

I get 35 of the 8mg subutexes every two weeks. I am officially on 2 and a half tablets a day (20mg/day), but in actuality, what happens is that when I first get the script, I take like about 3 tabs a day and then less - 2 or 1 and a half a day - towards the end of the two weeks script. I just can't help myself, and can't bring myself to ask the doc for another dose increase. He might think I am some sort of drug addict!

But I digress - I pay about $200 (almost exactly two hundred - I think it's like $199) for that 35 tablets of subutex. That works out to $200/35 pills (dollars per pill) = $5.71 per tablet. Since my insurance pays 50% of it, I only pay $100 for the bupe. But that's waaay less than the $8-10 per pill you were talking about. Maybe you should shop around a little bit (I am in the USA, BTW) for a better deal.

Jus' sayin' is all.

I might be wrong I'll have to check the exact price..

pfft.. of course.. my mother told me it was around 5-8 a pill.. she said shes only paying for a month or so then i have to.. with our family insurance it's $40 for 21 8mg suboxone. Not too bad.. 120 w/o insurance DAMN thats alot

Those 21 8mg subs last me two weeks. 12mg daily.. I want to raise it to 16mg, take 2 pills instead of one and a half. 12mg holds me throughout most of the day, but i like atleast another 4mg for later on (around 3-5 P.M.) Funny how fast tolerance shoots up. 4mg did it for me for one day but I was clean for 5 days beforehand.

I need to do some math here. If I go up to 16mg (two 8mg subs) and pay for a month which is around 30 days, and there are 7 days in a week, so I would need 14 pills a week. A month is 2 days longer then 4 weeks if you count it being a 30 day month. 14 pills each week x 4 weeks = 56 pills. Add on two more days (4 pills) 60 pills a month! $40 divided by 21 pills = $1.90 a pill. Not sure if the cost goes up or down with how many you purchase, but at $1.90 a pill I would have to spend $114 on the pills alone. Add in one visit a month (if im lucky, this will be awhile till then) which is $100 alone, there is $214 a month right there. Add on $25 for random urine testing. No wonder my mom is so pissed at me. It's so god damn expensive. Isn't methadone much much cheaper?

Psycho, you might be able to save some money if you tell your sub doc that you just want a presciption for your tabs so you can go to a pharmacy and pick them up for cheaper. I assume you are paying that much for your doses because you are getting them staight from your docrtor....no?? Thats what I was doing at first also and I just kept it that way because it was so easy. Now I get a prescription from my doc and go to the pharmacy and my insurance pays all of it excpet for my 20$ co-pay. Iv never heard that you have to go to your doctor every day for a week, I only had to go first 2 days in a row, then every other week for a month, then once a month since then.

I know a couple of friends who sell their subs for money. But they dont walk the streets like H dealers do. Maybe in a couple of years when the demand for subs become higher this might happen.

It's because the place I go to gives out counseling and support to help with personal or addiction issues. It would be different if I could just pick up my script and leave, but I can't. When I start paying for it I will probably switch, unless the doc lets me just pick up a script. I first started getting them from the doc since it was easier, but I have been going to the pharmacy for awhile now. I can't sell any of my subs, I need all of em!

Yeah man, methadone IS much much cheaper. I wish bupe was cheap like methadone. Methadone is generic almost exclusively. I don't recall ever hearing of anyone getting brand name methadone. Used to be sold under the brand name "dolophine" by Lilly. they probably still make limited quantities of it. I got an entire sealed bottle of 5mg dolophine once, in my "big score" back in the Summer of 1995. I was working in an indepentently owned drugstore and the owner was closing one of his drugstores (he owned a couple of them). All of the expired controlled substances from the store he was closing had to be "destroyed" and discarded. A couple people had been over at the store that was being closed down, and had collected all of these expired controlled drugs, and brought them over to the other drugstore, where I was working at the time. It was a big box full of about 100 bottles of various drugs, all controlled drugs, which were "expired" Most were only a few months past the expiry date marked on the labels. Well, the owner of the drugstore said "hey ___, take that box and go back in the bathroom and start flushin' those expired pills down the toilet back there" I said "o.k. sir" with a gigantic secret grin on my face.
One of the bottles in there was an unopened bottle of 5mg dolophine (methadone). I took it, along with a shitload of other stuff. All kinds of dopes and speeds and downers. Wow, what a great memory.

but, yeah, methadone is much cheaper, to answer the question. Sorry for going on with my war stories.

You've either got a really good doctor, who knows tons about bupe....Or...you've got a money hungry quack. I go once a month to my doctor and get a script with insurance. Pay the doc 150 per month and 50 for hte meds grand total of 200 bucks for a month's supply of bupe.

I used to take more that I was supposed to until my doctor raised the dose as high enough to meet the amount I was taking. Now that's a bad doctor. He knows shit about shit. You're doctor may realize that bupe is addictive and pretty strong for the first month or so. After that, don't feel shit.

8mg Suboxone stop-signs go for $20 here, $10 if your friendly with the dealer. I pay about $4.75 per 8mg pill.

Suboxone dust = Tang

Mix me up a glass will ya...

Ive been on bupe maintenence since the first day the FDA approved it and my doc was trained. I was paying $560 for just my bupe for years not including the doc. fee but since I have referred her so many patients over the years and I have had my monthly visits cost only $75 if I pay in cash, otherwise its $125. She is greedy but a great doc. A script writing machinge, zing zang thank you mam.
