i certainly did...what got me was those moons, "Europa" and "Ganymede" which someday might be colonized. i was especially interested to see wht was under the ice layer where they said they think there is cold water...interesting stuff...

But I wonder who their source is for the marijuana? Does the government mandate who and where it's grown? Who determines what "kind" of pot is dispensed. What a day it would be when I could go to the store and push a button to get a quarter dropped to the bottom of the vending machine...

I've been joking about this for years with my friends...I say legalize pot, put a tax on it, let us smoke legally and buy it from vending machines (lol), and we can start to get us out of this trillion some dollar debt we've managed to get ourself's into. (well, not US, but our shitty government.)

You know how simple it is to get a medical card in CA? I have multiple medical weed dispensaries within 2 miles of my house and some even deliver.

What channel does it come on? The SciFi channel? I've never heard of it. I might need to check that out. I first heard of 'The Wire' on this forum and have enjoyed it ever since. Us Junkies have good taste where television and movies and books are concerned. Nick and Duck and others have given me hours of reading enjoyment since I've joined this board!

The government doesnt control it. Independent growers usually supply it to the dispensarys. No one determines what kind of pot is despensed...they sell all kinds...if the owners like it they buy it.

Had the tv on for background noise while i was using the computer last night. All of a sudden i hear the word marijuana, ( like most addicts we act like dogs and turn our heads instantly when we hear any drug names ;) ) so i turn my head and the news was on. They were talking about marijuana vending machines in Cali. The patients are limited an ounce a week. They just have to swipe some card (proly script card or sumthin) than it scans your finger print... than boom!! your pot falls out of a vending machine!

Now that pimp shit haha bout time they do something cool with weed. Did nebody else see this on the news??? it sure had me smiling for a bit haha
started thinkin how much they kept in the machine and how ez it would be to break into it lol

The med. marijuana dispensaries are rubbing the fed's collective nose in it, and the DEA doesn't take kindly to that.

Of course I believe that all drugs, including marijuana, should be legalized and sold in a manner similar to alcohol. In VA you buy your liquor from govt-run stores- so the clerks are employed by the VA alcohol commission- which means your fake ID ain't gonna work there unless it's damn good. The prices are reasonable, the hours suck, but overall, it would be a reasonable compromise for how to distribute legalized drugs.

The reason I mention all this is because I think the dispensaries in Cali are doing it all wrong. They are being super flagrant, trying to one-up each other, anyone can get a medical pot card, and nobody has really sorted out exactly how legal it is to grow for these dispensaries (as far as I know). If they were smart, they would have been super low-key with the whole thing- not underground, just very responsible and above-board. Like requiring 2 ID's, small supplies at a time, not letting people smoke on site, making it more like a pharmacy than a head-shop, and ESPECIALLY not getting themselves on the news every month or so.

All this news they create is only going to serve to scare and infuriate all the "all drugs are bad" types, who have a lot more political clout than the pot-smoking crowd (sad but true). They will eventually say enough is enough and put serious pressure on the DEA to step in and shut this down. Remember, this is all illegal under federal laws, so if the DEA wants, they CAN shut it down and charge everyone with federal crimes.

Get what I'm saying? The people running this shit are going a little overboard with the whole thing, and while I agree with their position, I think they are risking major setbacks for the whole med marijuana movement by being so obvious, flagrant, and attention-hungry.

They say "the nail that sticks out gets hammered down" and this is never more true than when you are dealing with the DEA.

I hope this makes sense and you guys can see that I'm only being practical and thinking about the long-term realities of making sure this works and doesn't get shut down.
