View Full Version : Getting drug tested - need some answers!

I am going to be taking a drug test(s) pretty soon since I am looking for a new job. My friend who is probably getting me a job where he works says they piss test. I am not worried about marijuana really. I smoke very rarely, but have stopped doing everything for now, except opiates. I know for sure right now in my system there is:

THC (smoked once about 5 days ago)
cocaine and amphetamines (2 days ago)
benzodiazapines (clonazepam - 1 day ago)
PCP (3 weeks ago)

I am not too worried about these substances. I have stopped all these for now. My drug test could be anywhere from 1 week to 3 weeks from now. I should be clean for all the above given at least 10 days or so I am guessing (on the safe side, but probably even sooner).

My problem is opiates, particularly heroin. I am trying my best to come clean so I can pass the test, but it's hard. I have read conflicting statements saying heroin is out of your system in 2-4 days and I have also read that it can take up to 14-21 days. I use heroin daily (few bags a day). If I stopped taking heroin on a certain date, how many days later will it take for me to test clean for opiates? Is it as quick as people say? Or does that apply to people who are not daily/heavy users?

Also, if I went on Suboxone to alleviate my withdrawals, would that show up on the test? I have also read conflicting reports. Some people say no it does not show up, and some people say yes it can show up as a false positive. If yes, how many days does that take to clear your system? If anyone knowledgeable or with experience can shed some light with some real, true answers that would be awesome. Thanks.

4 days with heroin.

Subs dont show on MOST tests. I would switch to subs and test on the 5th day if I were you. You might be able to cut it closer than that, but better safe than sorry.

But, if your test is in a week, then bud will show up. You need a piss cleaner or a sample swap in that case. The benzos will show up, too. 3-4 weeks. Although some employers dont test for benzos, THC will definitely be tested for.

Good luck!

If H is all that you are really worried about, then I would stop using a week before you knew the test was coming, and still drink plenty of water. Thats just my $.02, and I like to be safe rather than sorry. Like BP said, you could probably cut it closer than that, but know your limits my friend, and always be safe.

depends on the drug test, if the test only test for morphine/heroin....you could switch to oxy/bupe......if it tests for lxy and other synthetics then Im not sure if bupe will show.......methadone wont show.

To my astonishment - methadone does show.. On a 5 panel dip stick test
I was 'astonished' because - i got transfered from my clinic to a gp about 3 weeks ago, and at the clinic they definitely did not test me for 'done. There was no real point to it.
I go to a GP now to get my weekly scripts, and he uses a 5 panel dip stick( Mor/H, Amph, Benz, Coc, Methadone). the clinic used to monitor me with a guy standing right to my side as i urinated.
The doctor just lets me use the toilet on my own, like a big boy:)
I guess he needs to test for methadone because i could easily substitute a sample. With the 'done positive he has at least some certainty that the sample is mine

I was also VERY surprised when i came up positive for Opiates on my second visit with him, having abstained for 4 days from using H.
At the clinic, in all my time there i would ALWAYS pass the Opiates analysis after just 3 days of abstaining.
I guess the tests he uses are more sensitive somehow.. that is the only explanation i see. That one had me scratching my head for a while though.

But yeah, they can test you for a lot of things now, with those 'cheap' dip sticks, and methadone too - if they choose to.

Underride, yeah there is variation in the sensitivity of the common test for organic opiates.. Reason being that historically there has been a lot of false positives because of poppy seeds, so some tests have decreased sensitivity.
