Does anyone know how to prevent the words that I type fromcompacting? I type the spaces but they get squished together inmy posts.

I get that too. I might test out whether it's a browser thing ....

Right, okay, I did some testing (only on "quick reply", not on "advanced posting") and it seems that the words compacting problem seems to be browser-related. It happened for me in Firefox (version 1.0), but it didn't happen in Internet Explorer (version 6.0.2).
Bi11i, any input on this one? Is this the case, or am I just going slightly batty in my old age? :)
(Edited because I can't punctuate, even though I usually don't run words together - nope, I lay that one entirely at Firefox's feet... )

wow, i had no idea. must be something new as i just applied some security fixes that have to do with the WYSIWYG editor.
Let me look into this and see what i can find out. For now, the best solution for those who might be having the problem is to click on your 'Edit Options' (http://forum.opiophile.org/profile.php?do=editoptions) link and scroll to the Misc options, changing your editor to a 'Standard Editor'.
Thanks for your research on this one, peri. I'll try to get a fix in before too long....

from what i can find - the WYSIWYG editor not noticing your space bar is due to what's called a "SuperScroll Extension" which is an add-on for Firefox. To my knowledge, there is no way to resolve this issue other than uninstalling it, or opting to use the standard editor via the 'Edit Options' (in your User Options.)
does that make any sense?

I'm sure it does... however, I'm really not averse to using the Microsoft product to get here (especially since the last time I used it regularly, it seems a few things have been fixed.)

i'll see what i can do. have you tried disabling that plug-in?

From my limited knowledge of Firefox, I don't have that particular "Superscroll Extension" even installed. So I'm clueless.

Actually, I've just realised this is not the only place I've been having that problem with Firefox. It's really beginning to annoy me, bigtime. I'm this close to just uninstalling it and going back to IE full-time... DAMMIT!

i went back. i loved the hell out of firefox, but i had too many problems. but man, being able to ctrl-click and some of the other mozillac features - it's hard to put down.
i'm still working on it and waiting back to hear from some of the people at both mozilla and vB...

This bug should now be fixed. All users of mozilla should be good to go - sorry for taking so long in fixing it....

I think that's a vote for browsing messageboards on Internet Explorer for the time being then, I'm afraid...

sounds similar to my problem with safari...
not all run together in my posted words, but if I go to preview before posting, it will eliminate all of my paragraphs & indentations so that there are no breaks I've tried to place for easier reading between sentences....
any of you who posted probs before: is that what your firefox browsing does? Or is hi different than what I described with safari?

This happens with me too, Coma; I use Safari also. So if I wanna preview a post, I then have to go back and break it up into paragraphs all over. Must be a Safari-exclusive glitch, not a big deal, IMO.

I researched this at the main vBulletin site and found nothing - means that I probably need to file a bug. Can you both report back with the version of Safari that you're using?

i had found for some time that the editor was not showing that i had hit the space bar until i started typing in the following word. i got used to it, but it was still annoying. that was in firefox 1.5.0.4. it seems to be working properly now.
I'm using Opera 7.11 on Linux and it's perfect. If that helps at all.
Keep up the good work!!!
