question,need help

i got a buddy who just got some sorta patches,he says there called lipoderm(or something similar)their 5mg patches.he says they usually give them out before you get sergury(sp).he got them because of back pain.and there was a big hoopla with his doc and he had to get a special approval to get them.has anyone ever heard of them or have done them.hes telling me their similar to fent,but i dont want to buy it and it be a waste.i searched the forums but dident find anything.help would be much appreciated.

is there any other pain patches besides fent?

Lidoderm patches are lidocaine. Nothing worth anything. All they do is numb the area they are applied to. The only reason I fill the script is cause my friends like to wear them before going in for a tattoo.

Pretend you dont know this and see if your boy tries to pass em off as fent patches to you.

side note- a long time ago, I had a friend who was hooked on oxys, old indian guy- and one day he ran out, he says "but I have this morphine patch" and puts on a lidocaine patch. He was sick as shit, and somehow he got well. Thats some strong placebo effect (there is no way in hell a lidocaine patch could relieve w/d's). Makes me wonder just how much of withdrawls is in your head. Like if you had no idea what w/d's were, I bet you wouldn't get half as sick as you do knowing what your in for.

thats my theory, the whole w/d mindfuck thing.......everytime I learn of a symptom, I suddenly develop it next time I w/d........but oh well, stupid brain.

You would be surprised how much of w/d is mental. My grandfather had recunstructive surgery on his knee, and was put on 100mg of oxycodone a day for about 6 months. He found out oxycodone is a "drug" (he is a bible-pusher) and flushed all of his pills down the toilet (asshole!). I saw him 2 days after going cold turkey, and he was completely fine. Said that he had trouble falling asleep, and he felt like he had a mild flu, but not even enough to loose sleep/miss work. But, he didt know that w/d happens from this medicine. Kinda weird.

My counselor also told me of a former patient of his that was a marine sniper. He was injured in combat, and heavily medicated. Apparently the dude decided he was done with painkillers, and he just quit, suffering no w/d's. The doctor claimed that he was not sick due to mentally overcoming the opiate cessation, and by not letting himself be sick.
It may be an "inspirational" story to give me hope, but it seems feasible.
