i guess i was too lazy to go to the pharmacy and all i had were these big ass (3cc - 22g) needles
i prepped my shot, got it in, aspirated for blood (YES!) hit the plunger, didnt get any rush whatsoever (the dose was high enough trust) and blood started splurting from my arm, shit was scary...wouldnt stop for like 5 minutes after applying intense pressure to it. i'm assuming its bc i used such a big needle but does this sound like i damaged my vein, i dont understand why i didnt get anything from the hit....any thoughts, just curious...

Well I've never IVed, but could you have hit an artery? I'm assuming no vein would make blood squirt out of your arm, just ooze out, if that. But if you had actually shot into the artery I think it's usually extremely painful. Hopefully someone with more IV experience will weigh in here.

Arteries are supposed to be under more pressure. Was blood spurting out like with the rythm of your heart or more of a steady trickle?
Either way, thats pretty scarey. 22 g is like a fucken harpoon! It goes without saying that you're gonna bleed, you're opening a gunshot size wound in your arm!

Arteries are what your supposed to hit, not veins. Im sure it was an artery or you would know because it would be extremely painful. As for not feeling any rush...I'm stumped. Unless you completely missed, but even missing yields a high feeling.

Uhh, what? You're supposed to IV (intravenous) into arteries? This is a harm reduction site...

NO!!!! You are NOT supposed to hit an artery... EVER. You are always supposed to hit a vein.
If you didn't get a rush, it is very possible you injected in to an artery. Did it hurt when you injected?

Dude, I hope that was sarcasm.
If not, you're an idiot.
If it is, you're a dick...this is a harm-reduction site and the guy was seriously looking for advice.

well put.
To the OP. Where did you shoot on your arm? A 22ga is not that big - I have booted a few times using that size and never had anything more that a droplet form afterwards. Its possible that you did not feel anything because your shot got blown out with the blood - not to likely but possible. I am hoping that you just hit an artery and did not rupture a vein. How is your arm looking right now?

Just kidding.... Don't shower me in fire;)

Dude, I hope you mistyped or something. If you really are doing it thaqt way- hitting the reds instead of the blues- please consider changing your method.
If you are doing this on purpose it will lead to something very bad happening.... Do some reading up on it man!
Good luck and peace!!

I think it's most likely you peirced a vein but either went through it or more likely you pulled out a little bit when you where registering, the 22g needle leaving a big enough hole in the vein (esp. if it's well used and callased) for you to suck blood that leaked out of the vein into the area right next to the vein, or that you pulled out ever so slightly after registering, and blew the shot into the fat, under the skin etc. If you hit an artery you'd know it, it would push really hard and hurt like an absolute bitch for quite a while, leaving those weird "hives" you sometimes get near the injection site w/ certain cuts all the way down my arm and hand.
I've experienced what you described before - I have a couple of veins that are gone now but for the last few weeks of there useful life I'd poke at it, register, plunge and some times it would "hit" right and I'd get a rush, other times it was just like a missed shot in effect but w/ out the small lump normally associated w/ missing a hit.
There is a youth christian anti drug site on the net that says heroin is injected into arteries, I remember an article on heroin helper about it, how they ignored requests to change this obviously wrong and possibly harmful information. Seeing as most arteries run beneath veins it would be difficult to intentionally hit one, and if you did manage to chances are you wouldn't want to repeat the experience.

my arm looks fine now, however its been sore since the attempt (nothing to worry about tho as it's feeling better thruout the day) but i think you guys are right, its just usually when i miss i still get high (no rush obv) but this time it was literally nothing and the blood was splurting out in a way that i imagine arteries do...in any case I am OK (at least superficially - if only i could get those 3 bags back tho :()

22g is pretty big for an IV shot which explains the amount of blood coming out. That's normal w/ that big a needle. You may not have felt anything because some of the dope leaked out of the vein, possible due to the size of the needle. Make sense? Sometimes if the needle is too big it can damage the vein and not everything you pushed in actually went in, if that makes sense.
That, or you may have just pushed it through and out the otherside or it just slipped out. I know you usually notice, but I have done shots where I registered fine, started pushing and saw it bump up.
I can't really thing of anything else, as long as you know the dope was real and you did a decent dose.

I have used rigs that size a few times and always place a cotton swab on the injection site while I pull out the needle, cuz it's gonna bleed.
As far as the artery thing goes, I have hit one once and I knew instantly that something was terribly wrong. I only got about 5 units in before my hand cramped, swelled, turned all blotchy red and white, and felt like it was on fire. Hitting an artery is deadly and at the very least really painful, its no joke.
Seeing as you didnt get high, did you at least get well? The only thing I can think that you did was go through the vein and basically skin pop, as was mentioned before. Hope your all right.

The massive amount of blood is definetly from that big ass needle. When I'm working with my 10cc rig (not very often) I use a 22 gauge because the anything smaller is hard to register with. I only use that big ass rig though when I have to boot up a lot of liquid, like when all there is around are OC 20's or roxi 15's and I need to boot up 10-15 of them in one shot. I bleed like your describing when I pull out if I dont put a cotton on the injection site and bend my arm to hold the cotton in place.
Next time you use that monster, dont pull ou right away, leave the needle in for a few seconds so your dope doesnt flow out with the blood and then put a cotton on the site as soon as you pull out. Here I thought I was the only dumbass who has used a needle that big, glad I'm not alone.

I believe this is why God gave us all 2 arms. Just in case you fuck one of them up shooting heroin...
Really!
Mathematically, you're doing fine. Good luck with the next shot.

:) Ha! Exactly!
Leave it ta PV to see that silver lining...
...mathematically speaking, of course.
