Methadone and benzo overdose on IRC (2003)

I know this is old, so a lot of you probably already know about it, but I only just found out about it yesterday and it really disturbed me. I couldn't find another post about it on here.

In 2003 a 21-year-old guy from the Shroomery IRC channel took 320 mg methadone, 24 mg Klonopin, 120 mg Restoril, pot, and alcohol (and Inderal for some reason... probably because he wanted to kill himself, though he said he didn't), while the people on the channel watched him and basically encouraged him. He actually said "Call 911 if I look dead", described his car, and said that the car and the domain registration info for his website would be enough for the paramedics to find him. When he passed out people debated calling and decided not to call for fear of getting law enforcement involved. He died. Google Brandon Vedas for more info and the chat logs...

I don't know if this is really a good discussion topic, it's just been bothering me. And really I know it happens often enough IRL that people are afraid of taking someone to the hospital because of LE, but... I don't know.

Always get your people safe. Fuck the law, hospitals, insurance, and anything else.
Even if it means someone goes to jail or ends up getting a divorce or whatever, at least no one is dead.

I missed the jack off encouragers. The reason I think duke was going for the suicide solution was the fact that he was pretty comfy with drug slang and he used the shit in proper context. He wasn't some newb who scored a couple of wafers or anything. He knew what the outcome of his actions was going to be. I'd bet a 1/4 ounce of Detroit's finest to a Darvocet script that that shit was intentional.

I could understand it though- think about it this way- the guy buys 4 "doses" of liquid m-done (80mgs each). He knows that the person selling it to him doesn't get high off 80mg, so he figures he's probably gonna have to take two. So he does. And then, an hour later, assuming its like percocet, he re-doses because he feels good, but "not good enough". And then its too late.

And 24mg of K-pin is just insane, too.

Either he was offing himself, or he was just a disaster waiting to happen, and if he survived this one, he woulda died the next weekend from something else.
