Ok went to get my suboxone today which I just so happen to get at my old methadone clinic where I went 3 years ago, I have been on subs there for 6 months now. All of a sudden the lady at the counter tells me that I owe $210 for when I was on methadone because I couldn't pay anymore so they did a 7 day detox on me (this was 3 years ago). Now when I started going to the clinic for my subs 6 months ago they never said I owed squat. Now all of a sudden there not going to let me get my script next time unless I pay the $210 for the methadone. Is this bs or can they do this? I am not a methadone patient there I am a suboxone patient. They even made me a new account because I am strictly a suboxone patient. How am I going to come up with another $210 on top of the $75 visit fee and the $150 prescription cost. I have no insurance so it's all cash. Also they are not going to do any kind of detox for me on the subs unless I pay that $210. This is bs and I feel like its there mistake not mine. Like I am gonna pay $210 for a 7 day detox from 96mgs of methadone down to 0mgs that happened 3 years ago. Sorry for the rambling but can they really do this? It seems fucking cruel. Maybe I should just look for a new place to get my subs.

Sounds like they got you over a barrel to me. I suppose you could just go to another clinic, but the induction appointment for subs would probably cost you more than $210. I would see if they would let you work out some pay arrangements. Have them give you a copy of the bill, make sure its legit, and then try to work something out with their business manager.

I don't know about clinics, but I do know that allot of times at doctor's offices, the doctors really don't have a clue what the business manager is doing. I mean, yeah, they do pay them to make sure everything is working smoothly and that people pay their bills, etc, but in the past, I've had the front office refuse to let me see my doctor (after I had already showed up for the appointment) unless I paid an outrageous amount. I went ahead and wrote the check, just to see the doctor and tell him what I thought... he got fighting mad, went and got my check and told them not to ever do that to me again.

Now, I know maintenance clinics are different, and this was a small town (beach/island town) doctor. But, if you try, they may actually let you make pay arrangements. I mean, your on maintenance.. what are you going to do, just not show up for an appointment?

Good luck. I wish you the best!

Thanks mate but at the methadone clinic here it seems as if the business director has more power than the dr.

That's how clinics work. They know you will find a way to come up with the money or you will be in severe wd. It's bullshit and one-of-the main reasons I switched to subs was to get away from that. ya know I never missed one day while on MMT, and most of the time I was on "daily" due to never being able to pass the damn UA. If my job would have been the ones to dispense the 'done I would of showed up there everyday too.

The best part of suboxone is getting it from a dr. once a month and not having to worry about all the "other" things. Can you find a dr. that will scribe 'em to you?

Try posting your tale of woe on the naabt.org board ....they are good bupe advocates, you cannot just jump off a dose of sub like you're on. I don't think you said how much, but even if it's 2mg, you can't just jump you have to do a slowwwww taper.

Hook up with another doctor and start fresh...even when you owe money they are legally supposed to give you 30 days notice to make other arrangements.

There are more sub providers getting into it every day. And try for a bupe-only place, 'done clinics can be cruel from what I hear.

LOOK FOR A NEW PLACE and get some help from that other board I mentioned, seriously. Nancy and Tim are the moderators and Nancy especially is good at helping people in your situation.

The funny thing is too is that I'm not really on 8mgs of sub, well I am but they think I'm on 16mgs cuz thats what I'm prescribed to but I am afraid to take that much a day just in case something like this happened and what a suprise it did. So they are technically planning on taking me straight off of 16mgs of suboxone. Crazy shit... good thing I know the deal.

Clinics and they're workers are just legally sellin dope .And the same rules apply scorin at your clinic as they do wiv your dealer!!!

Dealer can treat you like shit=so does the clinic
Dealer says you owe money=so does the clinic
Dealer talks to you like shit=so does the clinic
You have to deal wiv shit people=same at the clinic... I think i could go on and on wiv comparisons...I just fuckin hate these places and the people who work them...I buy my juice from another junkie. And i get decent service every fuckin monday...Now i know if i had no choice but to go to a clinic, i would quit.I would just hole up and suffer.Otherwise i would eventually be in shit street for violence committed at the clinic...
I know people wiv 9-5 jobs have no choice, but these places are no better than dealers. Most of the time they are worse...Did i say i fuckin hate em?!!! Be cool..Raz

Just bye reading your venting on the clinics makes me feel better lol. Thanks man I guess my only option is to go back to how I was before which was buying them on the street which for some reason now that I think of it was cheaper.

That's really fucked up...and scary; although not new. I've been on (and off) Subs for I believe about 6-7 months and I can't imagine detoxing without at least an obligatory taper. I mean, honestly, I take a vacation whenever I can afford it and then right back on Subs but shit...just dropping off, hell no.

fuck a taper. when they kicked me out at first they just said you cant come back tomorrow. i was scared shitless. i had to fight and fight to at least get a 10 day detox (to give me time to get a plan). all the reasons they kicked me out were untrue, i was actually doing very very well there. fuck those cocksuckers, but even 10 days detox??? thats like a death sentence when at 90-100mgs.
