I got my Fent patches. The doc rx'd me 15 of the 25mcgs BUT, my stupid insurance will only pay for 10, so i got 10 of them. I guess I gotta call the doc and ask him to call my insurance. Also the doc said if the 25mcg's aren't enough i can go up to the 50s. Actually he was gonna start me on the 50mcg's but than changed his mine and decided to start me on the 35's. But hey, that's ok.

I got the Sandoz. I can see the gel inside of them. They are clear. I didn't know they were clear patches. I put one on about 20 minutes ago but i don't really feel much, i do feel like I'm getting hyper though. But, i wanted this for real pain relief.

Ok Update, good news. My doc just called while i was typing this and said that he got the insurance to pay for ALL 15 of the patches and that i can go pick up the rest of them this weekend or Monday. GREAT!! Wow, the pharmacy must have called him because i didn't call him and ask to call the insuarnce, he really is a great guy and i love that pharmacy they are so fast and nice.

So I'm on the fent patches now. I'll let ya know how it affects me. The doc said i might get m a little sick at first but so far i feel fine, i just feel very hyper LOL.

I'm very pleased!!

Hey Goddess, what have you been taking for pain before you got on the patches? Those are the small ones and 25mcg/ hour isn't going to do much if you have any tolerance to opiates already. There are a few tricks to help you get more relief from the patches so if they aren't cutting it for you let us know and we can suggest some alternative ROA's.

Its gonna take a good 16 hours to get going in your bloodstream. Read all the info on the papers inside the box.

Why did he give you 15 if you've never been on them? That's kinda strange. Usually after wearing them a while, they switch you to every-other-day because they don't last the 3 days or your skin gets irritated. I'd change them every 3 days, if I were you and save the extra 5 (either for down the road or to play with).

You should have put it on before bed (like right before you lay down to sleep), now you won't be sleeping tonight.

They shouldn't make you "hyper". They just keep you from sleeping. Maybe you are special. lol

Just relax and stop waiting for it to work... it will take a good 16-24 hours, I believe, for it to get going. It, for me, isn't a noticable effect. Just don't feel the pain once it gets into your blood.

Let meknow if you have questions! I just put on a Duragesic 75mcg/hr last night.

Good luck & ENJOY your relief!

Ok thanks Papa. I'll know in the morning if they are working for pain because that's when my pain is the worst. But, i am gonna go up to the 50's I'm pretty sure.

Oh, i was on Ms contin 30mgs. But, i didn't take a lot of those last month, i actually traded them for some other stuff last month. I also do pods, Roxi's and Soma's. I got my Roxi's today to, woo hoo, i put 6 of those buggers in my mouth just as i walked out of the pharmacy LOL.

Well, it's been about an hour since i put them on. I just feel very hyper. I know I'm not gonna be able to sleep, shit. Wish i could take them off at night but i kow that will mess up my pain control. The doc also said it takes anywhere form 8-12 hours for it to go into full affect, is that true?

Girl, slow down! You're going to get in serious trouble with yourself! You probably won't need to jump to the 50's for a while.

When I first went on the patch, I was using ms contin 60, 3x a day with either msir 30 or perc 10/325 for break-thru. I went on the duragesic 50mcg/hr and it worked very well for the 1st 2 YEARS. I took the same break-thru meds and did NOT abuse the patch in any way.

You won't be walking around thinking "wow, I can sure feel my patch working" or "time to change my patch". The shit just works. No ups & downs. It just relieves pain. The only thing is that the day I put on a new patch, I can't sleep at ALL unless I switch right before I crash out.

Give the 25's a good month, especially since you've never had fent AND you are changing it every other day.

And YES, it won't fully kick in until tomorrow.

The reason he gave me 15 is because i told him n my chronic pain group (aka Opiophile lol) that everyone said that it only works 2 days and not the 3. And he said yea, that is very common so I'm gonna give 1 and you wear it for 2 days. And you're right, i should wear it the 3 days that way I'll have some extra's he he. GREAT IDEA. I have my Roxi's too so on the 3rd day i can up those and than I'll have some extra patches. BRILLIANT he he. Boy, I'm glad i mentioned the 2/3 day thing.

I'm really glad i decided to make the change and that my doctor was so open to it, i mean he was beyond open to it, he was like this is such a great drug and lots of my patience are on it and they say it's the best pain relief they ever had.

Boy these roxi's feel good after only being on pods and Tramadol for 3 weeks. Nice nice nice. Nothing like some good oxy, i tell ya.

I really appreciate all the advice you guys, i really do :)

Glad to hear you got your fent patches finally. Yeah, give 'em a good 12 hours to kick in... SWIM has put a few of them on before. I think the reason you were feeling excited at first was the anticipation. I think your idea about trying them for 72h so you'll have extras is a great one. It depends on your metabolic activity. Didn't someone say somewhere in the fent forum that men metabolize them faster than women so a lot of times guys will get Rx'ed 15 per month vs. 10? I could be wrong.

As long as you always have one on that still is working even if you run through your roxis a little quick you'll at least have SOME relief.

Anyway, let us know once you've had the patch on for a good 12+ hours what your'e feeling like and if it's actually working. They say by 18 hours you definitely should be feeling something (that's what the PDF I read a while ago said anyhow).

I'm gonna do my best to wear them the 3 days instead of the 2 days. And I'm not gonna jump to the 50mcg unless i really am not getting enough pain relief.

You know what though, i can feel it. This is like a super-high that i have but i know some of it is from the Roxi's, but i don't usually get THIS HIGH from roxi's, so i know some of it is the fent.

I tld my Grandma that i might be up all night and i explained to her why, i told her so if you wake up in the middle of the night and i am cleaning you'll know why. She just laughed. She's happy i switched to these because she doesn't like the idea of popping so many pills LOL. Oh if she only knew.

I'm gonna do my god damn best to wear these as prescribed, i know i can do it if i put my mind to it. And i have my Roxi's for fun and i have some pods and will get some more at some point. And i have my good old stand-bye Tramadol. And yes i know those won't work as well after being on fent for a while. I'm just gonna have to adjust myself.

All i want to do right now is CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN LOL. I know the guys don't have this happen, but to the other girls in here, when you are like super beautifully high do you ladies like to clean too? I jsut love to clean when i am high. I wonder why woman get like that more than men????

I also like to do creative stuff when i am this high. I get so creative and come up with all these awesome idea's when i am high. Fun fun. It's gonna be an awesome month, or a few weeks.

So what is everyone up to tonight? Oh and obviously you can tell that i talk a lot when i am this high, hence the longer posts. I don't get more talkative in real life but on line i do, i just jibber jabber and i have to control that or I'll drive you folks crazy LOL

Be careful with popping the Roxis until you know how the Fent affects you. Say good bye to your tolerance as you once knew it.

Gold is 110% correct. Wait on the Roxi's to see how the fent hits you. And as far as tolerance...let me say that when I run out of Fent (of course I don't, because I use as prescribed) I have to take 200mg of morphine per day just to keep well. Does absolutely nothing for pain, but keeps me out of full blown heroin-like withdrawls.

To be completely honest, I don't really need break-thru meds but maybe a total of 3x a week. The shit works VERY well.

Also GOR, on that 3rd day, you won't need to replace with Roxi's. It doesn't wear off that fast and there will be plenty of fent in the patch. There are sometimes when I forget to switch patches for a few days because I don't feel it wearing off or anything like that. I'm normally on the heating pad all day too (not for the Fent, for my back) and take very hot baths.

Once you are adjusted (I'd say in a few days) you won't have highs or lows. Knowing your pain levels, you'll probably be like me and really only need Roxi's in the morning when you wake up. Fent is not a "good high" type of drug once you get adjusted to it (unless you abuse it).

Yea i know Gold, i think people have said that to me 200 times already, I ALREADY KNOW THIS!!! you don't have to keep reminding me, hearing 201 times isn't gonna do anything lol. I've all ready battled with this in my mind for two months and i made my decision. I'm in constant pain and the ms contins did nothing. Yes, i am an addict but i do want some godo pain relief, I've been in pain for 6 years and I'm sick of it. I'd like just one morning where i wake up with no fricking pain. Sometimes the pain is so bad in the morning all i can do is cry. AndI'm sure other cp patience can relate to that. And when i have a flair up, my god,it's the worst feeling in the world. Infact this morning when i woke up the sciatica was so bad, i didn't cry but i couldn't get out of bed for like 2 hours.

Anyway, i appreciate the concern but I already know and i did battle with this for a long time before making the switch. It wasn't something i did light-heartidly.

Oh i already took roxi's LOL. They didn't interact with the fent at all. I wasn't to worried about that.

You should try smoking some of that fent. Then you will get high instantly. You won't be hyper after a nice fit of some fent.

Gold said that about the roxi's because of respitory depression. Sometimes when I take stuff on top of Fent, I almost have to remind myself to breathe.

Don't get mad because people care, girl. Fent is serious stuff. Everyone wants to make sure you know as much as possible. Slow down on the other meds until you can give the Fent a good 24 hours.

Havok, dude, she just got this today...she's not looking to get high...it is for chronic pain!

20 minutes later you are feeling "hyper"?

You want to take them off at night?

Made sure to get the gellies...

Well, If I didnt know better, I'd say you are planning on smoking them.

Just know that if you do, they WILL be gone by Tuesday.

And kiss your trammies goodbye- they are now officially useless to you.

Sorry for raining on your parade. Call it tough love. I really hope you dont smoke your patches, it RUINS them for pain relief forever. Smoking them relieves pain, sure, but they wont even last a week, then your screwed the rest of the month. GOR please dont take this the wrong way, I really am just concerned about you making the same mistake i made.

Hi GOR,

I wanted to add my tip! I started out wearing the patches for three days and the next month the doc wrote me for every two days because the third day was hell as the dosage wore out. My initial dose was 125 so I had to wear one 100 mcg and one 25 mcg. Sometime during the second month I had an idea that I thought would smooth out the transition. I always alternated sides - from left arm to right arm or left side of tummy to right, etc. to reduce the inevitable skin irritation.

Anyway, after 48 hours I would apply the next patch set on the opposite side. At first in my case, to be extra safe, I would apply only the 25mcg dose and add the 100 mcg on the third day as I removed the old ones. By the end of the second month, I would apply both new patches on the opposite arm/tummy/thigh after 48 hours and remove the old patches after 72 hours. I hope this is clear!

I never spoke to anyone who believed that patches lasted three days and we all thought that there just wasn't enough left after 48 hours to sustain another 24 hours. The method I was using certainly put new patches on every 48 hours as instructed but because it takes at least a couple of hours for new patches to begin to 'spread their joy' my theory was that during the period the new patch was ramping up, the old patch was draining its nearly empty tank.

Wow, again I hope this is clear - yesterday was my refill day and I cheated a little bit with the Fentora tonight. I call it new script celebration day.

Good luck - I enjoy reading your posts btw.
