View Full Version : Bupe for w/d in between scripts

Well you guys and gals all know that I use Suboxone for those times when I run short on my scripts. When I first used Subs back about 9 months ago, it was to try to get off pills all together; dependent on my pain level without. That first time using Bupe was like a miracle, with the exception that my pain was too bad without treatment. For those here who think Bupe works for pain-it doesn't; at least not on severe pain or neuropathy (nerve pain).
Anyway fast foward to today. I use bupe intermittently when I run short on my pain meds. The last few times I have done this it has been a horrible experience. First it was mainly dysphoria and my pain level being 8+. Well I tried increasing the dose I took of Bupe from 2mg to 4mg, it did seem to help my mood slightly. Last month and this month I have taken the Bupe will in what I would consider mild to moderate w/d, restless, yawning, watering eyes, runny nose, hee bee gee bs, etc. Both times I dosed with 1mg (1/8 of an 8mg tab) only to have extreme w/ds ensue. They usually pass after about 1-2 hours so really no biggy. Both times after having this experience I have felt like shit no matter how much bupe I take. If I can make it about 3 or 4 days on it I seem to level off and start to feel a little better but still have symptoms of EDS, like sensitivity to cold or hot, general sick feeling, increased pain (these are not w/d symptoms), moodiness, etc. Last month I took 16mg and felt no better tha I would if I took 2 mg. Now I'm not talking about w/d symptoms, like I said they go away within 1-2 hours after the intial onset. What I am experiencing is a general feeling of discomfort.
My husband thinks the Bupe rips the natural opiates from the receptors, he worries that it messes with the bodies' endorphins. I know this is a hot topic when discussing Bupe so I want to hear what you guys think.

It seems a lot of us
find the first use of bupe
to be the best
with subsequent uses
declining in efficiency.
It's a shame that initial glow
has to fade too
within the first two weeks.
I still value it as a bridge
between binges
or I would if I had any.

I used bupe just like you did, roxi, and I started to HATE it after the tenth or eleventh cycle. I never felt normal, always hot/cold/sweaty, which I always attributed to low dosing (why take more bupe than you absolutely have to, right?), and I started to really, really fear the crossover from good drugs to bupe. Oh, and my tolerance went through the roof, and I wasted a lot of good drugs trying to push through the blocking effects.
Oh btw this is all Subutex, so none of this is attributable to naloxone bleed. What about you, roxi? -tex or -box?
I lucked into a methadone doc, and I havent looked back at bupe since. Methadone is a million times better, and I keep my dosing very low (under 20mg/day after the first 2 days on it, always tapering down) so I dont experience any of the negative effects of long term or high-dosage methadone. PLUS, if I ever go to jail, they (hopefully) will have to dispense my methadone script to me so I don't die on them!
This is terrible, horrible advice, but go to the next state over and spend a full day at different doc appointments. Try to find one to script you methadone. Then pay cash for everything and business as usual at your regular PM doc. Just make sure to save some pee-pee with the "right drugs" in it!

i use subutex, and yes ur hubby is right, bupe does rip all the opiates off of ur receptors, the binding affinity is much higher than even naloxone so it rips them off. about the endorphines i donno. i kno that ive been on bupe for 17 months now and i feel unbeleiveable. words can't describe how i feel. so normal, so good. up everyday wondering what is next. can do tasks till the very end, i finish everything i start. my energy level is high. and my depression level is low to non existant. i have had very few bad days since the first 5 or so months. once i have made the switch to subutex last dec its been all good since then. god i think bupe is a lifesaver. i have heard some people it dont work well for but for me its great. and alot of the pain when coming off of opiates comes from w/d and that mental obsession of "omg no more opiates what am i going to do" once u get by that its smooth sailing. and bupe can be written off label for pain now by a pain doc and it is hit or miss if it works, also there is no 100pt limit when using it for pain. and bupe is dosed every 4 hours for pain kinda like methadone dosing, its more close due to anelgesia or however u spell that. when used for addiction its reccomended that it be dosed once daily to rid the person of that "pill popping" fixation or whatever method u use to get it in u, if u take bupe once u have to work up to that point i think. i couldnt take it once daily when i first started no way. and some people do good with quick detoxes off of it, i wish i was one of those but what im doing now is fine enough, i just went an entire year with nothing but bupe in my system and tahts unheard of. i kno people that take .5mg and low doses daily too and have for years . but as far as bupe taking control of ur opiate receptors it does just that, thats the main reason why theres precp w/d's if ur not sick enough or dont score high enough on the cows.

It's different for everyone. When I first did the change from gear to sub it was like magic. I was only in light withdrawals and after my dose I went home and fell asleep for about an hour. When I woke I couldn't believe I wasn't in withdrawal because I had been trying other types of detox (tramadol, doloxyne) which barely worked at all. I couldn't believe how well I felt.
Unfortunately, nowadays if I binge on dope for more than 3 days the changeover is a lot less fun. I'm not dopesick, but I do feel very flat and find it difficult to do anything. All I want to do is sleep and it's not so bad if I have that option, but when I have to go to work and function as a person it really sucks.
I wonder if it's because of the bupe in my system prior to my binge because the first time really did the trick.

It's box. I have decided it just isn't worth the shitty feeling so I picked up some wafers from a friend and I am using them from now on. I can take 10-20mg and not be sick and I don't get the terrible ill feeling I get on the first few days of Subs.

I know, like I said if I can make it about 4 days on the Bupe only I level out. It's hard though considering my pain level, the Bupe actually seem to make it worse. That's why I brought up the thing about it messing up you endorphins or "natural opiates".

i sure wish they would do more research and dev about bupe to see if it actually does. they seem not to kno about it. i dont kno if it does or does not. all i kno is it took me 5 months to feel good and normal.

Oh thats great. So I only have to take suboxone for 5 months for it to start working so I feel normal? Sounds great.
I have tried suboxone a few times, but everytime I take it, it does nothing (even when waiting 24 hours until I am in severe w/d). In fact, it seemed to make me feel even worse and the desire to use real opiates only intensified.

Same thing is happening to me. This is why I am curious about it possibly effecting the body's natural opiates but it ia a partial antagonist too.

The worst of it is just knowing that your tolerance is skyrocketing, and you're not even getting off.
Take enough, and it keeps w/d's at bay. But the next time you're in the goods and all excited about pushing off it sucks when you need even more works than the last time.
It sucks any which way you look at it.

I have heard diff people say their idea of bupe is that it actaully lowers their tolerence and is sorta of a receptor clean out . but dif things happen to dif people.
