At Zodiac Killers suggestion I've been reading about PAWS on-line. I am definitely experiencing some of the symptoms. But I'd really like the expert opinions from this board. I know it can last from 6 to 18 months. For those who went through PAWS, what symptoms did you get? How did you counteract it? How long did it last for you (I know everyone is different)?

That was my post about Depression.
I'm currently going through PAWS and it sucks.
I have good days and bad days.
I have days when I can't take it and I dip into the stash.
Best advice - Talk to someone. Stay busy. Eat chocolate. Jerk off alot. Take Wellbutrin or another anti-depressant. Get a good schedule going.
And most of all, know that it does get better.
Eventually.

i have never made it clean without anything long enough to experence paws, if i was not on bupe now id be in paws id imagine, im going on month 17 on bupe on jan 22nd so i dont kno what to tell u to do about ur symptoms. theres some people as u just read going thru the same stuff. and ur still in rehab right? still going to those dreaded meetings right? just do anything u can do to stay out of ur own head, thats my best advice, cause even my first 5 months on bupe wern't rosey as some might think oh must be nice to not have cravings, but i had them out the ass, i even debated stopping the bupe to get high, bupe does not put it all asleep. but yea like i said do anything to get out of u, try to focus on urself. get someone that u can trust thats also an addict to help u do those things, cause they do help immensly, and they make u a better person if done right.

You know there's all kinda things people will say....get an anti-depressant, exercise, sex (or masturbation), eat right, drink lots of water.
Al that normal jazz will likely help little bits but in the end I think paws is paws, if we had a fix for it probably many more people staying clean.
As for how long it lasts and symptoms...varies. PAWS doesn't necessarily last 6 months...how long you've been using probably plays a big role but isn't likely the end-all factor to it.

Word is that PAWs last as long as you've been using opiates. That would mean that - once I'm clean - I'd have PAWS up to the age of 66. I most certainly hope not ;-)

Yup, PAWS is PAWS no matter what you do...I'm starting to feel better though slowly but surely. I don't think that's true though Saint otherwise, OMG, 18 years of PAWS!!!! I'm at 6 - 7 weeks from WDs now. And yeah I'm still in rehab / recovery mikells, sadly I'm still getting in my own head and dealing with my personal bullshit.

Well I certainly wish you the best, you're one tough individual though. From where I stand I believe you'll make it out the other side just fine. :)

Try to focus on what it is that you want in the long term.
It's a complete shift in thinking for folks like us.
Make excuses for yourself to stay clean and not the other way around.
You know what you have to do. Just keep your head up.
