The mother-in-law had been passing me a few every now and then to sleep, my doc called and wanted me to list all the meds I'd had for sleeping. So I sent it..
Today, I get a call saying they want me to call them back.. I guess I'll do that tomorrow - but is xanax such a hard thing to get rx'd for sleep when you've gone through everything else..

Xanax is really short-acting so it's unlikely you will get it for sleep.

and theres other things that are less habit forming like lunesta, and mabey ambien but ive heard bad things about ambien and people crashing cars and waking up in the hospital. but anything in moderation is ok . restoril too is a good one, halcion is not used so much anymore, trazodone is used alot, remeron, even kpin is used sometimes for sleep. theres a pile of them

I'm pretty sure that xanax isn't approved for sleep, it certainly works though.

I think valium is probably one of the better ones to ask for use in sleeping. It has a really long half-life (20-100 hours I think). I shit you not, check the web if you want. Just some friendly advice... but also, klonpin has a shorter half-life but it will knock you out more, IMO.

I find that lunesta works really well, but not when I'm in wd. I have never had any of the weird sleep-walking-eating-driving-fucking side-effects, thank god. Temazepam is awesome. Choral hydrate is good but has a nasty hang-over effect.

they most likely WON'T give you xanax for sleep no matter what because it's so habit forming but they'll probably give you rozerem non-addictive sleeping pill i think it works decent as far as sleeping pills go they just suck in general

I think Ambien works much better than Lunesta.
Whoever mentioned people driving and what not....it's definitely true. If you take ambien and stay awake you become a zombie. You will awake the next morning not knowing what happened the night before.
SWIM took ambien and got in his car for some reason. He drove down the street sideswiping all the cars he passed. Then he just stopped and got out of the car and walked home. He didn't really know what had happened until the cops came and arresting him.
People also tend to binge on food while in an Ambien state. So if you wakeup the next day and there is cereal all over the floor you'll know who did it.
In my younger and stupider days I would snort a line of coke and take an ambien at the same time.
So if you do take ambien...take it and get into bed. Don't stay awake.

Ambien is the best.
It makes me goofy just before I fall asleep. And yeah, trying to fight it is painful.
I accidentally took TWO Ambien instead of Advil before we went out to eat last Summer. It was horrible...and I had to drive home because my wife doesn't drive stick. UGH! :(

Yeah, the thing that is usually left out of these reports is either the person took like 10x the rx'd amount, or were mixing it with Alcohol, Coke, X, so on... I've taken Ambien on and off for about 3 years now and have never had problems like that, though I have had some Phone conversations with friends/family that I have no recollection of the next day, and I guess I make up some pretty wild shit after about 15mg's of it...anyhow, just trying to clarify a bit on that, personally, I love Ambien, it works like a charm, every time! And as long as I have 8-9hrs to sleep I wake up feeling just dandy.
And I agree with most here, getting xanax for sleep is highly unlikely. I was having real, horrible, panic attacks and it still took a few visits to get some xanax. It does wonders to get you to sleep, doesn't do much to keep you asleep, unless you mix with weed...but that's a whole other story.

A few years ago my doc prescribed Xanax for sleep for me too. It worked great until I developed quite an addiction to it.:( Now I just take Melatonin every night and it works wonders believe it or not.

What the hell?
I suffer from severe insomnia and have been given everything from the "non-addictive" Ambien-esque to fucking barbituates.
If you want a different drug, just take the script fill it, go back in two weeks and say, "This shit doesn't work. Got anything else?"
If they balk at moving you up from Ambien to a benzo, then ask for a referal to a sleep and pulmenology specialist. He'll understand a bit better and next thing you know...
Sweet dreams.

at first, my old PM doc put me on benzo's - kpins.. they helped a bit, but not enough to matter. Everything else was a fucking joke.. I ended up getting 200mg of trazadone a night, shit knocked me out for 24 hours and since I've felt like shit.. I'll try cutting it to just 100mg..

The only one who would enjoy traz is the wife. Along with nightmares when I was given this shit in rehab to sleep once, I would always get "no reason" hard ons that wouldn't go away for hours and it was next to impossible to even rub one out to get rid of it.
Take it at the right time though, and you can make one hell of a rep for yourself in the girly gossip circles and shit.
