Five years ago or so I remember reading a Patient Bill

of Rights. I was reading it because they had recently

included a line about the right of patients pain to be

dealt with in a professional manner and to not under

treat pain. ( the under treatment of pain was an issue

at the time. )The other day I was taking my wife to a GI

Dr. and noticed a Patient Bill of Rights handout.

Wouldn't you know it. Any mention of pain or the treatment

there of has been surgically sanitized out of the Patient

Bill of Rights. I was wondering if any one out there has a

Patient Bill of Rights and if it mentions Pain control ?

Maybe it was just this Dr. that deleted it ( but I bet not )

When I was at Northern Westchester (NY) hospital last week there were all sorts of notices about your rights to pain management. I also got a Bill of Rights from Phelps Hospital and it does have the clause about the right to pain management. So its either your state or your doctor that took it out.
