I have a bottle of these Lyrica 50mg capsules sitting here. Dr. gave them to me a while back for my back problems.

I didn't take any and forgot about them until this morning while looking through my med box. They're a controlled substance apparently and online it says they can be addictive and cause euphoria.

How many of these would I need to take to get a little buzz on? I'm on 45mg methadone daily so I'm guessing that will pretty much just block it anyway right? Hell, I refilled my 7.5/350 percs last week and no matter how many I took I couldn't feel squat from them. I even skipped nearly 3 days of the methadone while on vacation to have a little fun with them, but no luck. It's weird too, cause before I went on mmt 80mg of oxy would light me up pretty good.

Another side note...on that visit to get my percs I turned down my Doc giving me anymore Oxycontins...He walked in and just said, "You need a refill on your meds?" And I said, "well, not the Oxycontin. My back has been feeling a little better so I haven't taken any for a couple of weeks. I still take the percocet at night and in the morning though.." I swear he looked at me like no one had ever turned them down before...lol. All I can find around here are those damn Tevas and my new insurance won't pay for OC's anyway, plus with the methadone taking the fun out of it I figured why bother. Anyway, I must've scored big points with my Dr. though. On the way out he turned around and said, "Oh, when you need those pain pills refilled you don't need to bother coming in. Just call and I'll write it so you can just pick it up."

No way would he have put that in play if he didn't totally trust me. It's only for 60 7.5 percs a month, but hey. I know if I have another big flair up he will totally help me out with something heavier if needed.

So, back to these Lyrica...they any good? Any advice on these?

Lyrica is a great medicine for nerve pain. I take it to. It makes you pretty drowsy the first few times, then you get used to it. It won't get you high, it will help with nerve pain.

I just saw a commercial about this med last night. But, the commercial was saying Lyrica is the first FDA drug for the treatment of Fibro. I'm not sure what the drug is though. You can google it and find tons of info. I think i might do that as well.

I take 300mg of Lyrica a day now for nerve pain and believe me, I aint the least bit euphoric. If feeling like a zombie who gained 30 pounds is their idea of euphoric, then maybe I am.

It is a variation of Neurontin used for nerve pain and as an anti-convulsive.

It is slightly useful for helping out with w/d symptoms. I sniff about 50mg at a time when my fucking scumbag shithead team of doctors feels like I don't need pain meds. It gets rid of some of the heebie jeebies.

What is Lyrica?

Lyrica is an anti-epileptic drug, also called an anticonvulsant. It works by slowing down impulses in the brain that cause seizures. Lyrica also affects chemicals in the brain that send pain signals across the nervous system.
Lyrica is used to control seizures and to treat fibromyalgia. It is also used to treat pain caused by nerve damage in people with diabetes (diabetic neuropathy) or herpeszoster (post-herpetic neuralgia).
Lyrica may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.

I with upstate and MTB on this one. I take it too, 300mg a day. To me, its a god send for nerve pain. But, no recreational value whatsoever. It did make me sleepy at first, but not anymore. Everyone is different, so you never know.

At first I could barely keep my eyes open while taking my daytime doses. Now it does not really affect me too much. I just kind of feel zombie like all the time. A few months ago I got the idea in my head that the Lyrica was not helping me much at all for my pain. So, I decided to wean myself off over the course of a few days (to prevent possible seizures). Holy shit was I wrong. I was in the kind of pain that feels like someone is sticking a soldering iron into your spine and keeping it there. Needless to say I am back on the Lyrica train. It does not take away all my pain my any means, but without it I would be in hell.

I have taken this drug once and it was hell for me I had very adverse reactions to it. It felt like my heart was going 100 mph. I couldn't stop moving around, like as if I was on coke or something. Not that I have ever done coke but I imagine it'd be the same way. Not sure why that happened but the next morning I couldn't breathe and still heart racing and had to rush to the ER. Thats just me though, perhaps I'm weird?

I have tried Neurontin also. For me, it was not as effective as Lyrica. It is a lot cheaper though.

Lyrica is the newer version of neurontin and many say it's safer... not sure the chemical reason why though.

I started taking Lyrica a few months back for about a month and a half then quit taking it. When I took it, it was like I took nothing at all. Not sure how anyone could actually get a recreational use out of it. I guess it works for some, just not for me.

I too find it a Godsend for nerve pain. I honestly duuno what I would do w/o it now. As another poster mentioned, I had tried it (with their free 2 wk sample deal or something like that) then stopped & boy did I miss it! Didn't realize just how much it was helping til I stopped it, Dr. said this is common way we realize sometimes though that meds *are* actually making a difference.

I am on a bunch of other meds too & never felt any kind of buzz from lyrica, though I do think it can be beneficial as an enhancer to other meds, JMHO

oh & the other morning I couldnt' figure out why I was so effin sleepy I could barely hold my eyes open, then I realized I took 2 lyrica, instead of one & my prozac which is cap same size, it was still dark early morn & I was in a rush I guess grabbed 2 outta my little med daily organizer I keep by my bed LOL. til I went & looked at it at lunch time & saw what I had done. soooo I spose if anything they could be beneficial as a sleep aid! LOL I would reccomend trying this at night though & not in the morning like my dumb ass haha.

I never knew or thought of it as a helper in w/d's. (so may I ask what is it about snorting it that makes it help?) I am assuming you take in it's reg cap form the rest of the time though?

oh I am on 300mg a day also. 1 100mgcap 3 x a day.

I hear so many ppl say it's just repackaged neurontin or close to it, but to me it works wonders around the neurontin which did not give me any nerve pain relief & just made me fat & cranky.

interesting though the gal who mentioned feeling like a zombie. I've been on it a year, & I do often feel VERY unmotivated. I was just blaming it all on the pain meds but now that I think back, I don't think I was like this b4 the lyrica. but I started OC's around the same time so who knows. I just know the pain relief is worth it, as I hear many have no luck with it but it's a miracle drug for me. so much so, if it weren't for the other obvious benefits of the oc/s (LOL) I'd be hard pressed if made to choose whether to give up the narcs or the lyrica as the sciatica can be as bad or worse to deal with than the other condition I have for which the opiates are scripted for.

sorry that was a long one. so a long post to say if you take too much of it my guess is you prob wont get high but will likely just fall asleep LOL. I think the ppl in clinical trials who reported feeling "high" (yep it says that in the pamphlet hahahaha) prob were never exposed to opiates or any real euphoric type med. just m y dumb guess though.

I get the same effect- well, the enjoyable ones, not all the other stuff. I love it, but it's so freaking expensive.

I also end up really out-of-my-mind euphoric when I take Neurontin at 1500mg or more.
