I need some links to info regarding opiates VS. NSAIDS for pain relief. Also, I need info showing the long term negative effects of both. I know that besides addiction, properly dosed opiates do not harm you body unlike the liver killing NSAIDS. Basically, I need to educate family members that drink the "OPIATES ARE EVIL DRUGS" kool-aid. My mom, who has been going to mental health professionals has bought into the crap that the mental health community spews regarding opiates. I need to help change her opinion with cold hard facts.

Any info is appreciated everyone!!

Thanks.

Search around the Pain Management forum. I'm sure there's some info there. Someone just recently posted a "pro-opiate" pain management manual in the PM forum too.

Search and ye shall find.

Here are three books that I have found very good with no BS propaganda mixed in.

1. Drugs and the Brain , Scientific American Library, W.H. Freeman and Co.

2. A Primer of Drug Action , Robert M. Julien, M.D. Ph.D, W.H. Freeman and Co.

3. Illegal Drugs, Paul M . Gahlinger, M.D. Ph.D , Sagebrush Medical Guide

Good Luck after all the propaganda you have a big job
on your hands. .:jumping-s

Bron's right.. the guide is probably the best pro-opiate pain management guide I've ever read. It was written by a former military physician. Its a good read and should help anyone with an open mind understand the phenomenon of chronic pain and its treatment.
