Seen here is photo of Chandler Valley Christian student Danny Pasanella (r). Pasanella was found dead in his bed. Girlfriend Erin Pushar is also pictured.
A Chandler high school student and football player died from a heroin overdose, the county medical examiner’s office confirmed Tuesday, the tragic end to a longtime addiction.

“She made every effort ... and surrounded him with great Christian athletes,”

Probably not the best group of people to put a junky with. I gotta figure that doing that only made him for more alienated which for people like us/him leads to more self medicating.

Either way I feel bad for the kid and for his family. I have seen what losing a child to drugs does to a family and it aint pretty.

As far as the guy being with christian athletes. It's just a different group of addicts that he was spending time with. Unfortunately the majority of addicts, especially young addicts have no idea what they are doing. That's why I like this forum, I want to know what I am putting in my body and what the effects are. People who don't want to know piss me off. It is still sad to see someone die at such a young age when it was preventable.

At least we practice harm reduction. I've seen one too many necrotizing ulcers on people trying to shoot gelled mscontins, or people taking handfuls of random pills with no concern for themselves.

I practice harm reduction now (at age 32). When I was a teen-ager I really thought I was invincible. I did some crazy things and I could so easily have died by my FTW mentality I had for so many years.

Sad to hear about this. I rolled the dice many times and got very lucky I made it through alive. since I found this place, Opiophile.org has done nothing but help me. This website has made me think A lot about my attitudes about life as a junky and practicing "harm reduction".

I know what you mean, it usually takes a close brush with death to wake people up. Reading the thread on the worst things people have shot up just makes me shudder. It's too bad that these kids don't have someone to teach them harm reduction. Because they live in the suburbs nobody wants to believe it is happening there.

No: just from the start on here, I've noticed you've been rude, and sometimes guys like u get off on it, seeing how far u can push it, then getting thrown off, and telling yourself, you're an outlaw, or that "you showed us..." Don't call me "pops" and don't be rude. I haven't got time for it.

I told u just to put some info in your posts: don't just put a link. You could have said nothing, said "o.k"., or given me a good argument why u don't have to play the way the rest of us do...

Instead, u had to answer: "whatever, pops" which any jailbird knows "pops" is an insult to anyone over the age of thirty. So I responded hastely, since u get on my nerves regularly, with ur short replies, as usually that is just a feeble attempt to get points...

I agree, "power" on a little site like this is obviously a relative term: u getting thrown off here, would say more about me, and my lack of tolerance in the morning, than anything about you...

So again, be a little respectful, to me, to the other moderators, to the people in general on here, and to Opiophile. If it's just a joke to you, then go somewhere else...

Yer rite: as soon as I posted it, I knew it was stupid, and set me up for all kinds of crappy come-backs...Bishop actually showed restraint, LOL...and I started to delete it, before all the other admins and mods saw it, but that seemed unfair: they know I"m human, and it's good once and a while for me to get reminded of it. I often get big for my britches, when other guys do it, so I should take my lumps when my own lack of coping skills shines thru .... oh well, no waves, I need to go swimming....

A good friend of mine in Houston and his father did a lot for me when I was out there. I called the father "pops" as a term of endearment. It was his script that I first saw and tried methadose wafers. Good folks no doubt about it.

Point is my comment was definitely not an insult in the manner that you described Duck although at the time that was irrelevant. All that is relevant is how it made you feel regardless of my intention. And again I do apologize. Trust me points is the last thing I am after. I am just participating. But that's another debate.

My only intention here and now to ensure that you understand that my apology in sincere and not a joke.

I know that: this wasn't my "finest hour", and u dealt with it well, and I see u totally differently now, thank you.

I don't like *anybody* on here, thinking they have to step lightly around mods or admins...if we act like idiots u'all should be able to say so, without thinking, "oh no..."

Just to redirect the subject back to where it started, I wonder what was meant by this line from that paper article:

"However they ingest it, it’s highly addictive and deadly, though many users mistakenly believe it’s less so if they don’t inject it."

I take issue with that, of course it's less deadly if you don't inject it. Once you've slammed a shot in, it's in, and you can't be sure of how strong it is, or what's mixed with it. If you're smoking the stuff, it's necessarily slow and progressive, and I'd argue that you'll start feeling unpleasant, and like you've overdone it, well before you get to the stage where you have enough of the stuff in your bloodstream to stop your heart.
Would you all agree?

It won't stop your heart. But it will stop your breathing which will in turn stop your heart. Smoking can in fact be faster than injection due to the surface area of your lungs. If you get too much on your first inhalation you are done.

Nope, your lungs have a huge surface area and are made to absorb what you breathe in. Whether that's air or smoke.

Plus, no matter your method of ingesting, you have no idea what else might be mixed in and how it will affect you.
