This has always been my main dislike if opiates and especially methadone. It lowers the hormones and makes the average person sexually uninterested.
Its almost like trying to eat pizza after you are stuffed on pizza and have eaten nothing but pizza for a week.
Discuss.

Well, from my point of view, the dented libido that arises from taking opies is something of a boon; put yourself in my shoes - recently disabled wife, no sex for three years, and some pretty unnatural appetites when the hormones are raging anyway!
I know you're not in my shoes, but it's good to look on the positive side!

Most neurochemically active drugs, from reuptake inhibitors to benzos to GABA-agonists to opiate agonists, tend to affect sex drive and usually not for the better.
Since my wife recently gave birth I don't have to worry about sex for a few more weeks but she's healing fast and it's been so long since I've felt comfortable getting it on when it causes me so much pain (the 2cm lesion in my Vas Deferens basically makes sex feel like getting stabbed in the groin with an electrified ice pick over and over again without mercy).....the dose of morphine, reuptake inhibitors, Lyrica and other meds I'm on means that it will be a challenge but I've found that if you time it right, and you really love & are turned on by the person you're with....it's not impossible by any means. You can even rock the casbah for your partner, but it will hard if not impossible to orgasm yourself.

Is that the 'exitwound' then?

Tar baby, I thought you liked having 0 libido. Seems you mentioned that in another thread recently. Whatever the case, I understand where you're coming from here. When I was on methadone the sex drive was nil. My lova really appreciated that, let me tell you. I have not noticed the same thing with sub.
Yeah dudes. Back when I was younger, in college, I took methadone recreationally and can remember one time when I first got it on with this one girl, and I was on it. Boy, it really made me stay "in the saddle" for a long time if'n ya know what I mean. She appreciated it a lot.
But now, I can relate. I am not on methadone right now, but I take 16mg bupe per day for maintenance, and that shit totally kills the libido too. I even asked my doc about some testosterone patches or something and he just laughed at me. I was serious, man! Plus, I lift weights, so it would be cool to bulk up a little bit. Anyway, me and my wife did it last weekend and I couldn't come! She thought that was weird.
Anyways, when you don't have a lady, opies can be your best friend, too.

oh yeah......sex wow i remember that shit and with another person too!! whooo hooooooo jeez i'm frickin blushing just thinking about it. oh yeah in the beginning back when i was just plain stupid enough to pick up this heroin crap.one of the rewards was a perpetual hardon you know a boner whhoo hooo sorry for all the whoo hooo's but just thinking about being back in the sagddle again whooo hooooo sorry no i'm not!! anyway my girl was glad to see me willing and ready to go.the only problem was that was all i could do just keep on laying pipe .never in my years did i think i would hear these famous words ...cum allready willya? it used to be wait dont stop please some more i'm almost there oops sorry babe im done.i mean what a fucking difference (get it fucking difference) from what wasn't happening most of the time when i waqs mostly doing just coke(cokedick) and now i'm riding the horse and the horse just might feel challanged by my big and meaty one more time whoo hoooo.memories from the corners of my crotch........now what were we talking about??????peace da/dawgg:cool:
p.s. let me add that this mental recall was around 22 yrears ago at present i'm still proceeding onward with my addiction i tend to choose heron over pussy. i mean my sex drive is still around only not as often nor as neccessary as rideing the horse is but when it's there it's there only there's other ways around it other then supporting a partner. ain't love grand ...da/dawgg:cool: peace

I am gonna chime in here...Being of the other gender, I have not noticed a difference in my sex drive. I am currently on Methadone and my sex drive hasn't been better. Heroin never had any effect on my sex drive either.
Is it different for women? I'm not really sure. I am in my prime and the sex couldn't be better, but I don't think that the Methadone has really affected my desire for sex.
Now, my ex-husband, well he had the ability to decrease my sex-drive, but never opiates!
Any of the ladies care to comment.....

I'm young...only 23 (not sure if it has anything to do with it) & the only thing opies do (to my sex drive) is make it difficult or flat out fucking impossible to cum. When me and my girl get goin I can beat it up literally for hours (with some gatorade breaks in between). Sometimes I'll even start chaffing and she'll get all swollen & puffy (not in her face) & can barely walk. Luckily my girl is as perverted a nympho as I am (sometimes I think moreso) so it all works out great...for this I must give thanks to the Nod Gods.

just to chime in too... i've never maintained on methadone, but when i maintain on loperamide/immodium my sex drive comes right back. like way too high. not as bad as WD sex, but 30 second bursts of sex before coming, and having sex like 10 times in a night. christ i've never been coated in so many girlboy juices. not that you want to know. and this is while not feeling any other WD sympotoms, but you get your libido and energy back and only shit in the am before you dose, but still. sort of best of all worlds as far as i'm conerned. though sometimes i get a hard on so bad it hurts while maintaining on immodium, but you take care of business and all is well.

I'm almost fifty on a high dose and all I can say is that I WISH it put more of a damper on my libido. I hate feeling ... umm.... let's say the desire to have sex, when I've really got limited ways that I can...well....do a damn thing about it!!!.... Half of that is my own bullshit - I mean I just don't do good in the love life department and don't really do the one night stand thing any more, I don't judge anyone else but it just doesn't feel right to me. Other things I might say would only illustrate my personal hangups on my own worthiness, attractiveness and such - believe me I have so many issues they just fall randomly outta my ass as I walk down the fucking street - that said - though I wish Methadone had the "cold shower" effect that it supposedly has on many, it has, along with other opiates, only enabled me to as the gentleman above so aptly put it...hehe..."stay in the saddle" - ... also for me, nothing ever turned me on as much as being able to satisfy my partner, so it had a mutually recipricol and positive effect - .... those that do experience the side effect of lower libido could probably get treatment that would eleviate or at least help the symptoms, and as you eventually tolerate your dose better the symptom should disappear. If it doesn't I would suspect it to be more that just the methadone at the root. Of course... what the hell do I know?

Yeah, lately my drive has been through the roof due to a rebound effect after going off neuro-meds that were supposed to help my pain (Cymbalta an SNRI, and Lyrica a GABA-acting drug meant to take over for Neurontin -- the current favorites). It hasn't really been very amusing to have excessive sex drive when you have a chronic pain condition that gets MUCH worse when you are aroused or after you orgasm! :(

sex is lovely and often i notice an increased drive when hi -but given the choice between devoting my time and energy to pursuing sex or making sure i stay medicated-well, you know how it goes-i am a chick so maybe this makes a difference(maybe not)

That was one of the things I loved when I was on the clinic. My sex drive has always been unusually high, and when I can get a break from the nearly permanent boner, it's very welcome indeed! I was only 10 years old when I discovered the boner, and from that point on it seems I always had one, often to the point of embarrassment. I rarely went swimming because the bikini-clad girls would excite me so much I couldn't get out of the pool. It really sucked. Methadone finally took all that away, but now I'm on Morphine and it doesn't seem to have that effect. It is, however, a much more enjoyable opie!

I guess I am one of the lucky few who has an increased drive when on opies... now if only my man was the same way.... gurrr :p
