Hi guys,Bi11i..sorry i have not kept you up to date after all of your kindess..lots of drama going on around here, haven't had the balls to do the switch. AMplanning it soon. I am not sure if i am understanding these posts correctly, but had anyone gone to www.suboxone.com (http://www.suboxone.com) to find docs in your area? You get a list of names and you call them all until you find the cheapest price!Mine also GAVE me ativan w/ it because he could see my anxiety. They were rANGIng anywhere from 400-150$ for the bup appt. :)

wow, ativan. nice - most docs would cut a person off for taking such things; giving it out is almost unheard of.

well so did you find an inexpensive doc to go to? my problem wasn't the doc, but the cost of the medication itself. pretty much the same no matter where i go.

well so why the hesitation? i think you'll be surprised....

bup can be effective in very low doses. at 8 milligrams I felt stimulated and relaxed depending on what I was doing, that is a heavy dose for me, I know people that take much larger amounts daily. I think people lose their sesitivity to it in the first week, and if a person doesnt raise and lower the doseage the effects may seem stagnant. using grapefruit jiuce or cats claw herb can keep opiates in your system longer, this is not advisable with drugs like fentynal or LAAM.the first time I experienced BUP I was coming off of pharmaceuticals, and used some IV ampules of .2 milligrams, without naloxone, doing bup this way provides almost instantaneous relief. using the product sublingually is better in my opinion it doesnt take to long to feel. It is not much of a big deal to do the switch really, there is plenty of support waiting for the right time. th only bummer is that you were only covered for a week? a month would be much smoother, though depending on how much you have you may be able to stretch it out quite a bit. some people use microgram amounts and still find relief. coming off of moderate potency opiates, a person using bup may actually get a real lift in the beginning. I have known heroin addicts using large amounts daily that left the treatment facility after 5 -6 days with no bup to take home and still didnt suffer much in the way of withdrawls. One girl was dating a dealer, and was in the 2 gram a day range, she kicked in a total of a week and a half, she didnt even use all the muscle relaxants and sleeping aids they sent her home with. the only problem I see with a quick withdrawl is that I feel it takes my body about three weeks to get past the physical depression, I just dont have energy in the day. Its fucking hard no doubt, even in the best situations. But bup is the golden road in my opinion. good luck.

hi everybody, mi name is Joe and i am new to the forum, I have been on methadone treatment for a little over a year, I had a bad dealing with oxy's. I have been slowly tapering my methadone down from 90 milligrams for the last three months. I am at 30 milligrams now and feel like some shit!!!
I have been reading up on the buprenorphine treatment and think this might be a good path to go down. The only thing is I dont want to substitute one drawn out program for another. Do i have to be on the bup for a long time to dodge the methadone withdrawals? How much time is enough?
Any feedback would be great!!!

Thanx, -Joe

Well you would have to be in withdrawals from the methadone before you start on the Sub. But really I have heard people taper off in 7-10 days without much in the way of withdrawals if done right. My DR. seems to think that long term maintenance is the best way to go as far as staying clean from opiates altogether. However you won't have to be on bupe very long to stear clear of the methadone withdrawals.

that's great - glad you were able to get on it so quick. i would think that after a week of taking the dose you're on, you would be able to almost painlessly stop.

good luck, let us know how it goes...

If it is literally a couple of glasses you should be fine. Drink too much and you might have an interaction and possible respitory problems. I would try drink a glass of water
between drinks also. JMO. SB>

i personally wouldn't. my experience with alcohol and sub is that it never helps. in fact, i'm always left with this feeling like i should take more sub after a couple of drinks. it almost feels like it's being pushed out of my system by the booze....?

with it being your last dose - i'd either leave it alone or make it one glass of wine.....?

Also-am I going to have w/drawls from sub (been taking 6-8mg a day inst4eade vof the suggested 16) Aafter taking it for only 6 days?thanks in advance :)
this is a tough one - your dose of bup isn't all that important here. 6 days is an iffy ride. i'm willing to bet that you could very possibly walk away from this with maybe (at most) the loss of a little sleep tomorrow night or the next. i've had completely painless results on your regiment of bup.

it's 'the fear' you need to be mindful of. don't let it get to you. it's sometimes tough to let go of the feeling that always tells you it's time to pop a pill or two. trust the bup - see where it takes you. i'm willing to bet the worst is nothing to be concerned with... get some more of that ativan from your doc, if you can. that will help with any anxiety.

hey, be sure to report back.... good luck.
