I heard the Steely Dan gem: "Bhoddisahtva" today and I was mentally flashed-back to the early 80s and thought of all the alcohol and crank fueled nights of my misspent youth.Simularly when I hear Framptons "Do You Feel like I Do?" my mind races back to the my Navy days stationed in Asia and my skag polluted years(2) there. It is funny how the mind works ,The guitar solo in Freebird takes me back to my senior year in High School and I instantly hunger for Drummond Bros. Beer and mexican dirt weed.......

I have similar experiences when listening to songs I listened to like 5-6 years ago in high school. It gives me a weird feeling that's hard to explain, a feeling like I'm who I was back then. Does this make any sense? memories flood my mind and I just have this feeling, and almost a smell? I don't know I'm nuts nevermind

Does this make any sense? memories flood my mind and I just have this feeling, and almost a smell? I don't know I'm nuts nevermind For 10 years I couldn't listen to Siouxsie and the Banshee's "Juju", because I played Mario All-Stars for about two weeks in the 90's (on the Super Nintendo), and had that album playing while the game audio was turned down. Afterward, whenever I tried to listen to Juju, I'd close my eyes and see Mario jumping around. This continued for 10 years! I just couldn't handle it for some reason.

This feeling of nostalgia is one of music's main draws for me - it is especially amplified when I am inebriated in some form or another =D Opiates are great for music in my experience, which is probably why, as a class of drugs, they are my drug of choice. Stimulants are good for feeling the beat of the music, but when it comes to the emotional meaning of music, very little enhances this as well as opiates for me.
