Methylnaltrexone (MTNX) is one of the newer agents of peripherally-acting μ-opioid (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mu_opioid_receptor) antagonists (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Receptor_antagonist) that act to reverse some of the side effects of opioid (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opioid) drugs such as constipation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constipation) without affecting analgesia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Analgesia) or precipitating withdrawals (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Withdrawal). Because it contains a permenantly charged tetravalent nitrogen atom, it cannot cross the blood-brain barrier (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood-brain_barrier), and so has antagonist effects throughout the body, counteracting effects such as itching (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Itching) and constipation, but without affecting opioid effects in the brain such as analgesia.






that means we can poop again! that is, if we can get our hands on this stuff. its basically the antagonist version of loperamide. interesting, at least to me it is.

it is still in development, it should be out sometime between 2008 and 2010. it will be used for opiate induced constipation and itching for those prescribed opiates. got all the info from wikipedia, you can go there and type in "methylnaltrexone"

I'm currently scripted fiber powder for constipation from my doc, stuff taste kinda bad after soo many uses of it, at first it tasted like sport drink

This stuff sounds pretty cool....i wish the itch wasnt removed cause thats my favorite part man! But the constipation is a life saver. I hope it makes the urinary retention subside a little too cause i CANNOT pee on heroin for the life of me.
