does anyone know what they may have given me? i went to the e.r. about 6 months ago i have severe acid reflux and it has caused my throat to scar up and have trouble swallowing food. well i go into the er with a piece of meat hung up in my throat. i dont know what cocktail they gave me while they were removing it but it was awesome i was concous but totally fucked up.just wondering is there a standard for what they give for this type of procedure? i guess this would be a question better suited for someone in the medical field? would love to know what it was they gave me!

No: but I had a freind had something sounded really similar...and he complained about it to docs, and they finally did sometihng: (this is going to sound horrible), but they gave him some antasthetic, and put some contraption down his throat that more or less expanded that shitbird in his throat, and that got rid of it..

Go see doc: obviously this is beyond my "scope." LOL...

there is no way for anyone to answer this exactly. you said the drug made you conscious but fucked up. that could be ALOT ALOT ALOT of things. anything from Halcion to Rohypnol to john q disassociative. ask for you medical records. sometimes you have to pay 20 clams or so to get them if theyre not directly transferred to your GP

Yeah that would probably be the one. I think it's meant to completely KO you though. I have a vague recollection of enjoying my versed shot (wisdom tooth extraction) before I passed out.

Probably Fentanyl/Midazolam... That is the most common one used for putting people in the 'twilight zone'. Which is like you described, not under but really fucked up.
It could be a number of things though. The only way to know is, ASK THE DAMN DOC! Why wouldn't you ask the doc what was being used to begin with? I never get stuck with a needle without knowing what I'm getting.. even when I have to go to the ER for my pain.

Most likely an opiate/benzo combo.

There's also a chance that it was an opiate/barbiturate (my favorite) combo.

But it's impossible to be sure as there are so many different options. Sometimes it's what the doc prefers to use, sometimes it's dictated by patient (whether or not they have certain allergies, physical ailments...)

It could go on and on.

I have this exact problem too! I have a hyatial hernia, for sure I am spelling it wrong. Anyway it is a value that keeps acid reflux in your tummy and not higher up. That value is not working or broken and in my case, only half a value so acid can wash up any time. Over the years one gets scar tissue around the esophagus which forms a nasty ridge that causes food to hang. The worst for me is chicken breast that is sort of dry. It gets stuck and hurts like hell. Even drinking water does no help sometimes, it feels like I am choking.

It SUCKS.

This is probably a little out-dated, but when my sister was choking on a piece of meat (from a cow) back in 1986 when she was 8 years old, they just put meat tenderizer down her throat. That was that, she swallowed and end of story.
