Ok so I am all geetered out with nothing to do, and I wonder,"Why do benzos make me go to the library/bookstore and read for hours?"

Anyone else encounter this?

um, no.

i get that more with a stim-like buzz (like oxy). benzos made me too mellow to read... i'd end up asleep or staring at the page daydreaming. i used to try stuff like answering emails, but typing isn't my best skill, and it took forever on benzos and rarely resembled english when i was done. my friends got tired of asking me what "heju hos a doiing ronsit" meant.

I can understand that. I guess for me its really more of a klonopin thing. Xanax is too heady to read ( for me). And I would have to eat a handful of Val. 10mgs to feel like reading.

So I guess my question should have been more focused on klonopin.

My bad.

I do this.. benzo's make me very quiet, content, and introverted, when I take them without opiates. But, with most opiates, I just get sleepy as hell.

I think that's what's called a paradoxical reaction. Either that or you're normally really too stressed to concentrate and benzodiazepines relax you enough to focus. I'd say it's probably one of the two or a combination perhaps. What do you take and at what dose, just for the sake of curiosity?

However, in general, I'll have to agree with others in the forum. Your experience is atypical.

I get more like than on opi's, especially Oxy. Benzos just make me pass out, but if I am nice and faded I'll go on cleaning sprees or do lots of work that I usually wouldn't have the motivation to do. But I guess that's not all that uncommon after all, as I have learned here!

I wish benzos did that to me!

I am not prescribed to any benzos. When I was younger I had a problematic couple of years with benzos (mostly xanax and rohypnol)and got addicted to them so I try not to take too many nowadays.

With klonopin though, my recreational dose is anywhere between 5 -8 mg. Any more than 8 mg and I really don't feel like reading. You know what I mean?

That does make sense though that I might normally be too stressed to concentrarte.

It seems like lately the only thing that will enable me to concentrate is meth (speed not done), or klonopins (if I don't take too much).

i used to enjoy the socal scene with benzos, tho often enough id take too many or drink too much with them and end up being the ass of the situation again.

I don't think I could remember anything that I read if I were doing this combo. My favorite companion to benzo's is poker. They take all the emotion out of my game and naturally make me stick to my gut instinct, which is usually correct. Benzos make me delusional, so I tend to stay away.

I used to be that way with OC. Whenever I got my refill, I would start doing heavy-duty computer stuff requiring total concentration. It was amazing how well I could focus!!! I WISH a benzo would do that for me!!!
