To you?
Heroin is so romanticized in my brain that it is ridiculous. Heroin is some sort of club that I am privalidged enough to belong to. It is a club that is older than most revered institutions that exist today. I'm sure that it boasts more members than Ivy League alumni and I'm I'm also sure that the collective intelligence is much greater also. When I fix a shot...I am performing long ago perfected beautiful rituals with a hypnotic grace that bests even the worlds premiere dancers. I am hobnobbing with such notables as Ray Charles, William Burroughs, Kurdt Cobain, and Robert Downey Jr. When I slam the shot home I hear the low grumbling moan of the delta blues, I smell the back alleys of moscow after the Iron Curtain came down, I taste the sweet, sweet nectar of the forbidden tree and I feel the caress of god.
Well, I just felt like tossing around some flowery language. Any input?
same here, I have a love affair with it. Romanticing it to death

Opiods (never had heroin, plenty of Dilaudid though) holds many titles in my book called 'Life'. My best friend, worst enemy, savior, the bringer of my own damnation, God, Satan, my sweetest lover, a heart-breaker, and I guess honestly when it comes down to it and all my cards are out on the table, its usually called my master.
Opiods are both my very own heaven on earth mixed with my own self induced horribly slow hell brought on methodically by my own sick devices.
Sorry for my horrible try at being articulate, I guess what I'm trying to get across is that for me, opiods are it, the end all and be all. peace...

Sadly it just doesn't work it's magic anymore on me the way it used to - just gives me a hint of a rush and makes me rather more fucked up.
I'm glad you can still get 'inspirational' on the shit.
Maybe some day when/if i kick 'done, i can experience some of its' bliss at least half the way i used to.

Heroin is nothing but a delivery system for morphine. Chemically speaking it is morphine that is acetylysed. Acetylysation allows greater lipid solubility, in essence it allows the morphine to cross the Blood to Brain Barrier (BBB) 3 times more efficiently than morphine. Upon ingestion the heroin is immediately converted back to morphine.
While some MIGHT like to imagine that is something chic or romantic, it is nothing of the sort. All it is is asaturation of 3 sets of receptors. There is nothi9ng cool about it.

Ah, nothing's cool or romantic if you break it down into bio-chem processes...that's why u gotta step back a step or two bit to see the romance in anything....of course in heroin, maybe u gotta step back a couple miles haha.... Hey, it's human nature to try to find some beauty and tragedy in everything we do, including heroin...if not, life would be unbearable...
"We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time..."

As delightful and blissful as H can be, also do not forget... oh where do I even start:
Sid Vicious
GG Allin
Lenny Bruce
Mitch Henberg
John Balushi
I need not go on. Even the wife of Friedrich Sertürner (the chemist who discovered morphine) overdosed and he tried to warn people of its dangers but "the genie was out of the bottle" by that point.
I'm really not trying to rain on anyone's parade but there are so many great writers/actors/musicians/thinkers whose lives were prematurely ended due to ONE bad hit. I think this topic needs to be addressed now and again just to put things in perspective.
Please don't take me for some pompus ass up on his soap box. Truthfully, I'm all about the almighty head-change. Fuck it, I live for a head-change, any time! Just be careful as should we all with what we do. I don't know what inspired me to write this reply. Enjoy, but do so with care my friend, that's all. I'm not bashing or flaming you, please do not misinterpret the nature of this message.

Lou Reed HEROIN (abridged) heroin isn't romantic it just has a great personality
I dont know just where Im going
But Im goin to try for the kingdom if I can
cause it makes me feel like Im a man
When I put a spike into my vein
Then I tell you things arent quite the same
When Im rushing on my run And I feel just like jesus son
I have made the big decision Im goin to try to nullify my life
'cause when the blood begins to flow
When it shoots up the droppers neck
When Im closing in on death
You cant help me not you guys
All you sweet girls with all your sweet talk
You can all go take a walk
Heroin, be the death of me
Heroin, its my wife and its my life
Because a mainer to my vein
Leads to a center in my head
And then Im better off than dead
When the smack begins to flow
Then I really dont care anymore
Wow, that heroin is in my blood
And the blood is in my head
Yeah, the gods good as dead
Ooohhh, God that Im not aware
I just dont care

Keith Richards LOL... if you looked up junkie in the picture dictionary he'd be right there with the rig sticking out of his arm. :)
Now Kurt, I think Courtney did him in. They did not do a complete investigation cause their thinking "oh, just another asshole junky" but they said the blood-levels of morphine and valium were not enough to cause a non-opiate-and-benzo-naive person to O.D. They even had a handwriting expert analyze his "suicide note" and the last part of it was determined NOT to be his handwriting but they couldn't establish that it was Love's either. Oh man, we could start a whole nother thread about "Did Kurt really commit or did Courtney have a hand in it?"
Even that show with Robert Stack... what's it called... "Unsolved Mysteries" did a piece on it. It never sat right with me. I mean, I knew he was a depressed dude but there's just something so sketchy about the whole deal!
Oh yeah, did I mention Elvis is still alive, we never landed on the moon, 9/11 was staged by the government and Bill Clinton is a homo... oh, sorry, Ann Coulter made up that last part. Call the man what you will but I'm pretty sure if his johnson left his pants it was headed towards a female orifice. :)

We know what heroin IS Rach, we're talking what heroin is to you.
But since you say heroin isn't cool, I guess that's the truth.
It's a fucking drug......anything more than that says's more about you than it.
Hell,it's an inanimate substance.
To me it's..............

And roses are simply flowers, yet we take the time to smell them anyways...
High horses are high horses and yet people feel the need to mount their trusty steeds on a daily basis.
And they're still just roses and horses. How we react to this stimulus is a subjective thing.

That's right: it's what makes us human, as again, if u look too closely at *anything* it's just a clusterfuck of boring old molecues, obeying the laws of physics...ever watch a really old couple waltzing? Or listen to Hank Williams singing about being lonesome? If I couldn't bring a little tired old magic to all the crappy stifling biolgical imperatives in this world, I would've checked out a long time ago... I know, seing the music behind heroin is tough...but a boy's gotta work with the tools and materials he's got, right? ;-)
And they're still just roses and horses. How we react to this stimulus is a subjective thing.
