Refilling CIII Prescriptions

I had an Rx for 60-10/500 mg generic Lortabs (Hydrocodone). They were originally filled on December 20, 2005. Sometime during the Christmas holiday, a friend or friends decided they needed the pills worse than me. The actual Lortabs were replaced (substituted) with pills of similiar appearance (probably generic acetaminophen or ibuprofen).

:party-smi

I have one refill remaining on that original prescription. How soon will I be able to refill it? I really need
my medication (all visitors [suspected thieves] to my home during the Christmas holiday deny any involvment of course).

:finger4u:

Even if I call the pharmacy to inquire about a "real early" refill, I know the pharmacist is going to think I am LYING (and possibly drug seeking). We know that diversion and/or theft of narcotics never really takes place (and we never LOSE them)!

:speechles

Thanks!

Having actually worked as a real pharmacist in the past - you can figure out why I no longer am in that field - I can definitely say that it's really weird how the only drugs that people ever lose or get stolen or anything like that are controlled substances!

Anyway, to find out when you can eariliest refill your scrip', just look at the directions on the label. If it says "take one or two tablets every four hours as needed for pain" then you figure if you always take two tablets, then thats two tablets every four hours -six times a day. That's twelve tablets a day. Sixty (60) divided by twelve (12) is about 5.5, you can round down to five. So, you could refill it in five days, in other words, if that's the directions on the script label, then you can refill it NOW. If it only says take one tablet every four hours for pain, then you can refill it in ten days. If it says take one tablet every SIX hours, then that's only four tablets per day, and that means you can't refill it until 15 days! OR, you could call the doctor yourself and ask him if you could increase the dose a little bit and then that means you could refill the prescription eariler, depending on what the new dosage is.

Dear me Hydro Joe,I really feel for you, with friends like these you sure don't need enemys. I've had similar problems in the past with people guzzling by methadone, but they just nicked it, they didn't go to the lengths of substituting it for something of a similar appearence.
Before I got my script, many moons ago, when I had less experience and more faith in the nature of the smackhead as a species, (only joking I'm a smack head myself and now know that those addicts who beg, borrow or steal had that type of personality in the first place, they just use their addictions as an excuse.....it looks like the same applys to those of u who use opiate pills as well) anyway, I bought £10 of what was supposed to be clear methadone but turned out to be baby's gripe water.....
Hope you manage to get your script early. Laters Poppyx

Poppy's right, I second that and I meant to say something about it too - what kind of friend is that who would totally just clean out your pills??? I mean, snatching a few is one thing, but totally stealing all of them, wow.

Zoop the answer to that question is: not a friend at all, just another leach using the disguise of friendship for their own ends. Another type of 'not a friend at all' are those who manage to misplace their drugs (because they are so wasted)in your flat, then not bother to tell you they've lost them. Then six months down the line u get busted and are sat there all smug knowing that there are no drugs on the premises other than those prescribed to you, then bingo some obnoxious officer(usually one you've got a history with) is handcuffing you whilst their partner is joyfully waving 2 bags of smack in your face!! The next thing u know is you're down the station with charges of possession for drugs that are not yours.................................Then to rub salt into the wound whilst you're waiting in your cell minus belt and laces, starting to rattle whilst they get the doc, you remember all the times u've been ill and realize that all the time the cure was hidden in a lampshade.......in your own sitting room.

Oh yes I've got loads of examples of friends who aren't frends.

If I have a 30 day supply, then I can usually fill on the 27th day and not earlier. The only time I have filled earlier is when the doctor has upp'd my script and the pharm had to call to verify with teh doc and also had to call the ins company to explain why before they would pay for it.

........of course the dea controlled drugs are going to be the ones stolen because they are the desirible ones.

did you tell your doc the absolute truth about many people over for holiday and someone stole them, now i think that is a very possible situation, and if you really need the meds i would think the doc would help you out.......

My doc called them in for me (yeah) and he did believe that someone had dipped their hands into them.
