Hello buds.

(Miss me?)

I wasn't sure if this is in the right section so please direct it to the appropriate forum.

Anyone have any experiece with this relatively new ADD drug? I know the basics like it's a prodrug and it only becomes t'he goods' when broken down in the stomach. I know it's supposed to be similar to Adderall. I know it's supposed to be long lasting ~ 12 hrs.

My question is that what is the general opinion with stimulants helping when in w/d?

My main issue with w/d is the lethargy and the total lack of motivation that accompainies cutting back (or stopping) the opiates. One would assume that taking one of these amphetamines type drugs would help.

What are your thoughts on this line of thinking? Any experience with stimulants

Good thought, but if I have ambien for sleep shouldn't that help the sleep?

Seedy, I'm ok. could be better.....could be worse. How are you?

Thanks.

lisdexamphetamine, right? No experience, but I think it'll be a good drug, and probably good for the speed-freak industry.

Yes it's lisdexamfetamine dimesylate. I've tried it (30mg- which is supposed to be equivalent to 10 mg adderall)a few times and it is really good for getting motivated. I'm not sure how it compares to adderall because I've not tried that one. Tomorrow I need to clean the house so I'll be taking vyvance again.

I just got rx'ed this yesterday. I had been taking Adderall XR 25mg once a day but I have no insurance and that shit was costing me out the ass so my doc put me on Vyvance. I took one yesterday and man I actually like it better than the adderall. It's a much more smoother drug. It doesn't give me that jittery feeling, just a good speedy feeling. Taking it with 3 Norco's REALLY helped the effects. I see you have taken it Oh Joy. Do you like it?? Is it helping your ADD??

The general opinion will be bad idea. I used to smoke crack to help with wds and was able to get great relief from that. I would have to be very careful about amounts though. Too high, and it would just add to my wd symptoms and make me feel like dying. I would use just enough to stop the diarrhea, calm my head down and deaden the pain, and then would stop until my wd symptoms came back. Certainly not something I would recommend but hey... desperate times and all that rot. :)

I have taken Ritalin, 20 mg. bid, since 2000 or so when we discovered I have had ADD my entire life but was able to compensate for it until I got sick and developed problems getting my work done as easily as I had before falling ill. I like the immediate release because it seems to offer me a modicum of control. That being said, I would not mind switching to Adderall or some other sustained release compound or a "pro-drug" like Vyvance. Thus, I would appreciate any comparisons anyone has to offer between an instant release compound and the ER versions.

Oh yeah, I also like the immediate release because if I am tired or downright exhausted when my morning alarm goes off, I can pop one in my mouth while still in a hypnagogic semi-consciousness and within 20 minutes I am totally awake -- as awake as a couple of rails of "home delivery" or 2-3 cups coffee would make me. Can this "quickie wake up" be accomplished with Adderall or Vyvance?

Happy New Year

Well when I take my Vyvance it only takes about 30-45mins to kick in good. The focus and alertness are much more noticeable then when I was on adderall XR. You can't snort Vyvance though because it's a pro-drug. It has to pass through the liver before being active. But I'm taking it as rx'd and I can tell it's really gonna help me in school.

Vyvanse does not have to pass through the liver to be active. Its an acid catalyzed hydrolysis of an amide in the stomach, and by enzymes in the small intestine and liver. The inactive form can be very easily converted to the active form in aqueous solutions.

Just what my doc said. He said it passes through the liver and is active once it reaches the small intestine.

He must have meant stomach, because things go from the stomach to small intestine, not liver to small intestine.
Typically oral medications are absorbed into the bloodstream from the small intestine
and then make a first pass through the liver.

(if I understood what you were saying. i often misinterpret what people post)

Yeah that makes sense.
