I've had it, I'm making the sub switch

AAAhhhhhh, that lovely honeymoon period you get when you switch from on opiate/opioid to a different one. Anyway, I have finally had it with the expense of methadone, the side effects and the drive everyday except weekends.

Reason I remember not being so tired all afternoon and getting nothing done when I was on suboxone, was because I took 3 8meggers daily. With my colon gone and strange metabolisim, I was always staying up till midnite no problem. However(darn I forgot to ask for a dose reduction today damn)I'm on 170mg now and can only go down max 10mg a week. My sub doctor said he would gladly take me back and to call him as soon as I'm down to 40mg of methadone.

I know I will be going through some wd hell, thank god I have 4 valiums scribed to me to take daily so that should help. But if it doesn't much and I am still suffering too much, because I now have some tolerance to valium, my main reason for this post is. Does anyone here think that, maybe my doctor at the methadone clinic might prescribe me xanax also? and tell me to stop the valium until the wd's get more bearable, then switch back to the valiums.

I worry too much, so I'm sure this wont be much of a problem, in fact it will be nice to not have to deal with done anymore, the expense, woo hoo that means with insurance my subs will only cost me $70 or less a month, and I will be able to have some extra spending money each month to buy stuff, or save up for my dream car. Ha ha, you all might think I'm crazy but I love those cute little ford festiva cars, and I'm gonna get one someday because they are getting harder to find, especially in Chicagoland, where everyone pretty much beats on them and just junks em when something goes wrong with em.

Anyway, wish me luck in my switch, I hope I get feeling much better when I switch so I'm not napping so much and getting that horrible mental wd type of sadness, lonely, no ambition or interest in anything feeling I always get in the afternoon when done starts wearing off.

Don't sweat the change. I've switched from MD-40's to Suboxone and Subutex and the transition was fine. In fact, I quit taking the MD on one afternoon and started the Subs the next morning. I still have the Psychological cravings from various triggers (places, people, etc.) but regarding the physical side effects - it's worked fantastic. My only complaint is the taste of both Suboxone and Subutex; it's like letting an asprin dissolve in your mouth but it's only about 15 minutes since I break the 8mg in half at a time.

p.s. If you're getting these through a Doc, as ALWAYS, exagerate what your daily usage of Opiates was prior to using MD or Subs so you can get the highest dosage. That way you'll always have more than you really need...just in case, ya know?

Thanks, I figure the switch wont be that bad, because I was on 20mg done for 2 or 3 days at the hospital two years ago from my last majorish surgery and when I went home and had to tough it out 24 hours and then take my subs again, I just had a little wd but nothing major. Then I was back to 3 8mg subs a day.

Good thing is, sounds like my sub doc will start me out on my dose I was on when I left, by the way, love your avatar, I would sure love to gobble up some of them goodies, especially the yellow ones or all of em ha ha, would be lasting me a few days at most probably though.

I just came down from 100mg, and I don't think you'll have any problem coming down 10mg a week, say...might want to slow down, when you get down to, say 50mg. But I made a rule kind of, if I got sick, to stop, but I've had no sickness so far, tho I slowed down to 5mg a week at 50mg, and will switch to even lower, when I get to 30mg. I'll drop to 40mg tomorrow. I may switch at 30mg to subs, again, I haven't decided. Wanted to see how easy the drop would go...I was out swimming for a couple hrs today in Pacific Ocean, and I was alright, and I know I'm not kicking, if I can do that...

But once I get to 30mg, I'll decide...been here before...

Well, now I'm at 160mg, just switched two days ago and woo hoo I just got 38 pods too. I know this sounds like a waste, but due to my metabolisim and done wearing off around 4pm everyday, I assume I could still get a nice little vacation buzz from all them pods.

What I want to know is, how do you all think is the best way to get the most from them? should I chew them all up raw? grind them like normal and get them warm on the stove and strain the goodies into a cup? also since my tolerance is sky high, should I just plan on downing all 38 in one day or would that be dangerous? I was thinking of being safe and taking like two at a time every 10-20 mins max until I feel something or my desired euphoria. Also if eating these raw, is there ever a danger of getting sick from pesticides etc or whatever may be on the surface of each pod?

theres a few folk on naabt that have done the switch. some opinions are good, some not. experence is what to look for. ask the people for their advice and get their emails. some will be good to talk to, and some not. good luck with the switch. and if u aquire some anxeity attacks u will prob get xanax. tho watch cause as u kno it can be really addictive real quick. i personally dont kno shit about Done, so i can't give any advice. i just want to swim in the damn pacific ocean:(.

As far as your question on getting xanax from the methadone doc I would say that might be hard, however your doc may be completely different from the one I had. The methadone clinic in whole was way against taking any benzos while on methadone and even failed me on drug tests for having them in my system (of course I only had a very old script) but maybe you can talk them in to it. Good luck on the switch as well, just mad it myself and this is day 5 on suboxone for me... Hope all works out for ya...

Most of the clinics I have been to will absolutely NOT put you on benzos as well as methadone. The last few I have visited wouldn't even start you dosing if you had benzos in your system. They're all different though....

I've met a lot of people on here, do fine with benzos, but in old days in clinics, it did seem like a lot of people on methadone, wanted benzos, to kind of get loaded again, since methadone, once you're used to it, doesn't feel like getting loaded. So people getting their lives in order on methadone, are one thing, and people kind of forced on it thru lack of heroin or oxys, but who still really wanna get high--I've been both types--often start hustling around for benzos and stuff, as u can see in the movie methadonia, and even hear on here, once in a while. And that has made methadone clinics really down on anybody getting benzos: we're all supposed to be nice little boys and girls, and go to our meetings, and talk in postive ways to our counselors...and *not* chase benzos...and this attitude might have passed on to docs in training for buprenorphene maintenence also...anyway, they're hard on benzos: blame it on my generation, we caused all this shit...legalize heroin maintenence, and we'll all slink away quietly;-)

I notice you seem to do pretty well on subs...you're always my *counter* example to the people who have been on subs and lives get shitty: I know it's like anything else, has a lot to do with attitude, same as methadone...and you always seem to have a good one; I just can't shake off crappy attitude about methadone, in spite of Prettypoppy and others who have been really good examples to me, I think I'm stuck in late sixties, early seventies hyper-suspicious attitude about any opiate the gov't allows us...hell, if they ever legalize heroin maintenence, somebody slap me if I start bitching about it ;-)

how far from malibu are u? i just seen the bad fires on cnn. the 17million dollar castle house burnt:( also i am wondering what a methadone lock box looks like, i have never seen one, hell i want one to put my subutex bottle in lol. its put in a reg safe, but a lil lockbox can't hurt eather. il mess u send me a pic of it and or how to get one.

Malibu's up north of Los Angles, and I'm way down south, just north of Tijuana...but we are having some bad fires to, and air was full of smoke...now is Santa Ana (winds out of east) winds, which is good for bodysurfing, but bad for fires... And lock boxes actually just let hoods and thieves know u have left the clinic, so always want to be careful if one is in car, as junky thieves would break window in heartbeat for visible m'done lockbox. Thy are just little boxes you can buy in any drug store or superstore, with a little key and lock...even methadone clinics know they are ridiculous and won't stop anybody...maybe kids...but kind of kid I was, you put a lock on something, I'll bust in and check it out....just a little metal box with key, buy'em anywhere....

Its too bad there only letting you come down 10mgs a week because I have found that the wds really aren't shit untill you get down under 40mgs.. then its hard coming down 10mgs a month let alone a week. Do you get take homes or do you have to still dose everymorning there? Also I would try to stock up a few of those vals for around the time you make the transition. I think the easiest way to make the switch when you get under 40mgs is to pop a few (or 15) benzos and sleep 24hrs if the wds will let you, then take the sub. Good luck and keep us updated.
