View Full Version : Tramadol and food

I prefer to take almost all my opis on an empty stomach - oxy, hydros, etc. However, I find that if I eat a meal shortly after taking tramadol, especially if the food is high in fat/protein, I feel the effects more intensely and for a longer period of time. Has anyone else noticed this? My sister had the same experience, but it could be because we're related. ;)
Thanks,

I used to eat my pills on an empty stomach, get the come-up in 30 minutes, then hit up McDonald's for some fatty food.
Always increased - or at least lengthened - the high.
Go figure.

I always take my Tramadol and other opiates on an empty stomach. I never thought to try fatty foods after though. But with Tramadol it's hard for me to eat because it takes away my appetite. Usually when I'm on Trams i don't touch food till 6-8 pm. I just can't eat. Reminds me of meth in that matter. I could never eat on meth, even if i tried i just couldn't do it.
But after my Roxi's or Ms Contin i do eat, like 10 minutes after. But that's because classic opiates give me an appetite.

It must be cause of the high lipidic affinity of Tramadol, due to its molecular structure..so the more lipids in ur liver..the stronger molecular bindings..I guess.

it could also be because tramadol exhibits some SNRI effects, and antideppressants do curb appetite

thats cuz trams have a speedy effect due to their SNRI effect on the brain like how subs feel speedy because theyre specifically designed from thebaine opiate
fatty meals have known to enhance oxycodone, theres google about this stuff, very interesting indeed, but I do prefer personally to do everything on an empty stomach and wait as long as possible to eat, but thats just me
