So I finally found a place that will take me and it's supposed to be a good place but it's private. I do plan on going back to work asap after getting on ( I had been doing the school thing instead for a bit but I just cant get the loans or afford to just do school) but it might take me awhile to find a job that will work well with school and not pay shitty(cuz part time jobs usually don't pay well). It's about $300 a month and a intake fee of an extra $80. The public clinics seem to have their own problems and waiting lists and shit like that & have given me a hard time about getting on wanting all kinds of documents and crap. I'm going to college and supporting myself so I really don't know how I'm ever gonna afford it - hell my habit was cheaper then that (but I at least need to piss alright to get back to work and I'm hoping this works just so I stay out of legal trouble).

Anyhow I'm wondering if I should get on a public funded type waiting list if it would actually save me money to get on a sliding scale. How much money do you need to make to pay full price and or what do they take into consideration do they look at your rent/car payment stuff like that or is it just basically how much you make?

Basically I'm trying to get an understanding of how the scale works I'm assuming as soon as you have a job you pay full price or very close to it?

Fucking ridiculous to begin with especailly with the dose I need $300/mo + travel for what $5 worth of medication? blah

Sorry hun....All the clinics in this area are private..Well I say all but there is only one within 75miles of my house..The others though that are within 100miles are private also...Sorry I have no help for you..Though I would go ahead and get put on the waiting list anyways that way by the time you are called for your turn at the clinic you will hopefully know what you need to know and can decide then if you wanna transfer...

I feel like much of my info is really dated, or limited...but I'll thro it out anyway: before I was always in public clinics which were either free, or only a buck a shot...these were in Houston, TX, Columbus OH, and Corpus Christi TX..., and Lake Charles LA (take that back: clinic in Lake Charles was private, but I don't remember cost)

Now I'm out here at private clinic. Bottom of sliding scale is 300 bucks a month. It's still free for vets, but u have to jump thru some hoops I'm not willing to jump thru, at this time....

My guess is that, as before, "free" clinics are usually a real pain in the ass, they watch u pee, are often in "rough" neighborhoods, and u end up waiting a while, sometimes just to get on the program, and sometimes to get yer daily dose...they also often have more group and mandatory meetings and shit...but all states are different, of course, hell, all clinics are different...

Private clinics vary in price all over the damn place, TP, that's why it's hard to give price estimate. Most people I've ever known usually qualify for the lowest tho, but again, all of them are different: lowest here for methadone is ten bucks a day...and buprenorphene is more expensive. No reason, as I posted before, to use clinics, when one of the main reasons for getting on subs is to avoid the whole clinic bs...

So my suggestion is look into both...usually, public is cheaper, and more a pain in the ass... private costs more, and is more pleasant...but I'd have to see what yours are like first....

Best wishes, man, hope somethings works out for you in this area...
