I am not sure if this is the right forum to post this in, so feel free to move it it it is not. Let me start this tale off by stating that swim has hopped the border from El Paso to buy what ever he could (Valium, Codiene, etc) probably 30 times in the 7 years that he lived near El Paso. In that time he has never even been looked at sideways by a mexican cop. His biggest fear was being searched at the border by US customs.

Well, swim has moved away from the border area and has not been to Juarez in about 2-3 years. Last week swim found himself in El Paso on business and a travelling freind wanted to cross the border and party. Swim figured why not so he went along. Swim has a prescription for 30 valium /monththat is usually spent in 3-4 days, so he took the empty bottle with him to fill up at the pharmacia. Well luckily none of the pharmacias would sell him any valium or any other decent drug, so they decided to just hit the bars and have a good time.

When swim goes to Juarez he mainly sticks to the safe areas and doesnt go ito any of the shadier areas. The freind never having been to Jaruez did nnot know where not to go. They were walking near one of the shadier areas and the friend started crossing the road at which point swim asked were are you going, but the friend whho is much taller and faster was already across the road and going further. Swim had no option but to follow him and try to turn him around. As soon as swim got across the road 3 policia in a paddy wagon stopped them. They asked them every question in the book. Where are you going? Why? To get drugs? Have you taken drugs? and on and on. Then the police asked them to lean against the vehicle for a search. At this point all Swim could think about was the empty valium bottle in his pocket. Definately emough to get taken to the Station. They coulod have thought we took them on that night and were high. As the police searched swim's pockets he would look at each item and then put it in swim's hand. He put the cash swim had in his hand, then he put the bottle in swims hand, then he looked through swims wallet and put it in swim's hand. Then he patted Swim down. All in all they found nothing. Swim was astounded that they did not give him any grief over the empty prescription bottle. Swim believes the reason is that the bottle waqs from Target Pharmacy and they use these fancy red bottles that are kind of shaped like a wedge. Appearently the police did not know what it was. Had he known, surely he would have at least asked why swim had a empty valium bottle in his pocket.

After all that they still made us stand there for what seemed like a half an hour asking us questions and talking amongst themselves in spanish, which unfortunately my skills are very limited. Well appearently they were just holding us waiting on a bribe. Swim's friend had exchanged some dollars to pesos earlier, so he told them he was headed back to El Paso and did not need them. He gave them 200 pesos and they let them go. I am so glad the Pharmacias would not sell them anything. Not only would they end up in a Mexican jail but the would have been fired from a well paying job too.
