WD'ing from bupe to Methadone to cold turkey

Hey y'all...I've had a long run in with all opioids/opiates and the past 6 months I've been on average ~4 mg Subutex (buprenorphine hcl, sublingual), and never used anymore than 16 mg/day; and those occasions were very few...Thing is, Bupe is such a complex drug, and within 24 hrs without my last dose of bupe (obviously I tapered to around 2 mg/day, then 1mg/day, then about half then 1/3 then nothing)....So, I come across some 10 mg Methadose tablets. took 1 by mouth 24 hours after stopping Subutex, and another ~36 hrs w/o Subutex...I was skeptical but the Methadone even in those relatively small amounts has prevented me from getting sick, no euphoria or sedation though...So what I wanna know is- now that its been: ~3 days since my last bupe dose, over a day since my last dose (methadone, 10 mg) - when can I physically use full agonists again successfully to achieve euphoria? It is my understanding that methadone has a blocking mechanism to opioids that cause euphoria but I know for a fact it pales in comparison to blocking opioids to bupe. I've used fentanyl 10 mg IV (yes, 10 mg, not mic's) on bupe and could not 'breakthrough' the blockade on my receptors. If you did that on methadone though, you'd be dead in less than a minute unless your tolerance was massive. (No flaming pls, unless you wanna pay for my Subutex, then don't be posting disrespectful comments just because I wanna get high.)

Would ~50-60 mg of HC or OC work for me if I took it now?

Hi, I wish you the best in whatever you do, as I'm in the same boat as you pretty much. I've had some bad run ins with a few opiates myself this year and last. I'm on 24mg suboxone daily and back in March of this year when I was fresh out of rehab I was at 4mg suboxone daily. A month after I was on it, I was hangin out with some cool buddies(a big no no)that I knew from before I rehabbed, word spread quickly that someone was hangin with 120 10/500 vicodin. Me ofcourse couldn't resist it, paid for all at once $300, stopped my subs for 24 hours and then could not stand the wd anymore, took one vicodin just to be safe, within 20 mins I was in horrible wd, then an hour later it started going away so I took 3 more vicodin and then they broke through the wd all of a sudden and wow was I buzzed nicely. Depending on your situation, you could break through the bupe or possibly the methadone, however I've never been on methadone yet so I dont want to mislead you in anyway. Its interesting how each and every one of us is a little different with meds than the next person. I just know one main thing to remember is dont ever take bupe or methadone(from what I heard)shortly after taking a full agonist or you will most likely be in serious wd or get real sick. I've been on the 24mg suboxone for months now, just recently got more vicodin and today was 20 hours since my last sub dose, I just took 7 vicodins and I'm feeling real good right now, so I guess I broke through the suboxone.

Hey, I appreciate the repsonse...I'm not a real MD, but I should be...I'm sure there's folks on here who have been users longer, but I have about 7 hardcore years and about 10 years in general of experience. I've had experience with virtually every opioid except levorphanol or butorphanol.

Well, I wasn't really sick yesterday evening but I dosed my lot of tabs I had, ~50 mg HC. (I guess the remaining metabolite traces from the Methadose I took the day before were still helping)...I did feel it, and was quite comfortable and cozy last night, but nothing near the euphoria I should have experienced, but given the fact that I would probably still test for bupe metabolites- not bad...I probably should've waited till this morning...

Now I'm in the no money, no meds, no nothing category of things so I'm prepared to go through absolute hell for the next month. I expect the WDs from bupe to be very lengthy. God willing, I will get my hands on something. Even when you know that just a slight relapse will set you back a day or so in your WDs- sometimes you just have to have something, to give you a "break" from kicking...

Suboxone has a blocker and Subutex doesn't. Just in case anyone wasn't sure!

Also, Dr Benway- If you managed to get down to less than 1mg of Subutex a day, the WD's from that would be fuck all! A lot of people I know cut down to 2 or even 4mg and then stop dead with little or no probs!!!

I wish I was one of those people, I have been on 1 mg of bup now for over 2 months and cannot break that habit. I know the w/d's are managable if I had 2 weeks to take off of work, but I dont and I cant w/d at work. To me w/d's are w/d's are w/d's, some are more severe than others but they all SUCK SOME SERIOUS ASS@!!@!!

Yeah I've always noticed that just as people have various thresholds of pain so they have different thresholds of what kind of withdrawals they can endure - I also remember that when I was younger withdrawals were alot easier for me to take - in any case withdrawals can suck seriously for some of us, and I'm one of those people - I'm on methadone now, but I remember a time when I couldn't even THINK about getting high without going through withdrawals, if I got high once I would be sick a day, it was ridiculous - now, on methadone - if I drink ahead even one days dose and I withdraw before pickups. Days like that I have to lock myself up in my room and hide from the world - even moreso than I usually do! ...........this junky life ain't always a picnic that's for sure!!!

I'm with u on that one, the lows (at least for me) have definitely outweighed the highs. Poppyx
