Well how does this work. Say someone is in legit pain, and they go to a methadone clinic for maintenance as they aren't making it with what their doing. Now when someone goes to a random orthopedic or spin surgeon, do they know you're in the m'done clinic? Is it going to be the first thing they see n my files? Is insurance involved? How widespread is the info that someone is in the clinic going to be here?
What if a doc is willing to prescribe something, opioid wise, could soemone be on both? Would docs auto see rug seeker when you say you're in pain, not expecting medicine even..
My Q really is who here, in legit pain, is in the m'done clinic for maintenance? QANT STORIES ARE GREATLY APPRECIATED GUYS! This would help a great deal to hear from those who are in legit pain and have entered a m'done program. ANY stories about how reguar doc/orthopedic visits went would be very very great! Any info whatsoever about what happen far as the medical files go would be great too...
thanks ahead to anyone who contributes to the thread!

Would you be trying to use insurance for both? (I guess assuming the 'done clinic accepts ins.) Because Im sure, as you know, that this would be a very risky way to try both.
Also, I would find out if your state has a prescription monitoring program. I am pretty sure that MMT would show up on one of these databases, so be weary of this too.
Outside of these 2 problems, I dont think it would be much of a problem. I do this with Subs (not the same, but a similar scenario) and I have never had any problems, but again, my state has no electronic rx monitoring, and I dont use insurance for the Subs.

As long as I'm here, I'm going down a similar road, Ike. I have both pain, and I'm an addict. Heroin took care of both, but, well, that always end badly. So I got on methadone, and also, this week, called a PM...
For PM, I will use insurance and all, methadone clinic I've kept seperate, paid myself. and I go to V.A. too, which is separate from other two...but I will probably *tell* pain clinic I go to VA, as I don't think I can just bop into a Pain Clinic, without some evidence I"m seeing a primary care doc...
So far, nobody knows about the other. As previous poster said, Insurance would crap it out, or failing a piss test, and not being able to explain it, would at least screw up takehomes, at mdone clinic...
Main thing nowadays, my belief, is that databases get more and more connected, but so far, V.A., Methadone clinic, and private docs are separate. this question probably will be on more people's minds as we progress towards more and more electronic connection, sadly.
One of main problems is possibility of piss test from Pain Clinic Doc, or more commonly, Methadone clinic....
Best of luck...

Yeah I'm worried that their databases are connected,a s every other doc I've seen are all receiving the same med records on me...
So being you're in a m'done clinic does not show up on ur med records? yeah I don't wanna use insurance with the 'done folks cause it'd end up causing more trouble than it's worth, and I honestly don't think my insurance would cover that stuff anyway, if they did, it would be so little it wouldn't be worthwhile..
thanks so much for your input, duckeet, and to anyone else who has and will reply! GREATLY APPRECIATE IT!
So have anyone ever gotten scripts for opioids while in m'done maintenance? Like could it be possible, well more so legal and all, to continue getting my fent and roxi while in m'done maintenance? I pretty much have to get in a 'done clinic right now. I'm only getting ten, 2.5mg Fentanyl patches and 120, Roxi 15mg(only 60mg a day). Now I'm sure you guys know how that just simply can't keep you well for a month, so I've been running out in 2weeks ya know. Then having to cop from friends and resort to the streets a couple times, WHICH IS FUCKING BOTHERSOME!
I hate this having to worry so much about where my next dose is going to come from, spending ALL my check on medicine! It's getting sad, and my girl is stressing to the max about me. I'm so glad she is supporting me through this shit though. It helps tremendously!
Another Q I have is what happens if I fail a drug test at the clinic, I know the first few tests are OK to fail as they don't expect you to be off completely until you're on stable maintenance dose, right? So what if I test positive for opioids like fentanyl, r(oxy), or can they tell if I'm taking any illicit 'done thats not form them? Can I still use a couple extra 10mg 'done tabs while in the m'done clinic? Will they cut me off or boot me out if I test for fent, oxy, or morph a couple times? would it help to go ahead and admit it b4 being tested?
but a main Q is can they tell if I take any 'done that isn't from them? Do they test for how much 'done is in you?
this is stressing me and the lady both and I only have enough of my meds to last until today/night and tomorrow, then I'm out completely! I called the clinic today but they closed at 12 and I missed them, god whats the chances of them being able to see me that day or day after I call and setup everything? If they can't should I try another clinic around here? I've been trying to use pods to keep well with but they fucking suck, and I don't even have a huge toler, the things sued to be on my top five opis of choice, but I've done went 8x+ my old dose just 1year ago and it didn't even take away the panicky-ness and freaked out part of WD! I'm sorry I'm rambling but I just did my last dose until tonight so I just gotsta talking...
thanks again guys, a lot!

Just a few more things, Ike, since this is much on my mind too, and hopefully someone else will chime in, more knowledgeable. This is huge area for many of us...
Now that even legit pain medicine is getting tougher to get, I meet more people going on methadone more for *pain*, than for addiction, as docs often are loathe to perscribe anything "strong enough." V.A., where I do all my med stuff, so far, is notorious for this, outside of ER...I have *yet* even at my age, and w/my experience, to be able to get anything consistent from them stronger than hydros... I started out purely for pain, got dilaudids, justifiably, but then addiction kicked back in...and I'm sick of endless posts on whether or not "I'm an addict." But I do have to take care of myself, so clinic methadone is reasonable best shot, like it sounds like you're doing...
Usually, get in there early, u have lots of paperwork, but the clinics will get you dose that day. I've never seen exception to this..can take a couple/few hrs, but you'll get dosed. Maybe not as much as you want, but usually enough so yer not sick: 30-40mg...
All clinics I've been to--now, particularly private clinics--do *not* cut down on methadone if yer pisstests come up dirty. What they do is cut out your *takehomes*. I went in today, to get first takehome, and they go by have to have three clean UA's, and proof of income. And of course, you *want* to come up dirty on first one, but no biggee, as long as u can convince them u r addict...
I'll let someone else give u advice on further down the line w/strong opiates, for breakthru pain and such, and whether to let clinic know u are on them...I'm trying to see a PM myself, and will have the same problem in the future... I've never heard of people getting in trouble for taking more methadone from outside sources. Nowadays, it's usually much easier to get up to high enough dose where u don't need other meds... *except* for breakthru pain, and some of the meds u mentioned, are those that are often talked about. I know there is a way, I just don't know what it is...
It's not for everybody, but www.readybb.com/watchdog is a pro-methadone website, with methadone advocates and many people very knowledgeable about this and other questions you have asked..., if u don't get anwers on here. they helped me incredibly, but I have not posted there in a few weeks, as I'm going thru my usual love/hate relationship with methadone. thirty years of this shit, Ike, and I'm still clueless. I'm down to 55mg of m'done, and already craving dope, hating how I feel: I might go back up again, I swear I'm like a yoyo with this shit. I know whenever I even *think* about the possiblity of heroin maintenance, the whole U.S. attitude towards "opiate replacement therapy" just discourages the hell out of me...and to travel, I need to keep going down, and get on subs, IMO...
Enough out of me, best wishes Ike....

Unless the clinic is tied to the hospital you're going to, or you sign a waiver, there's no way they'll know.
You really should tell your doc that you're on MMT, though if you're going to have surgery. It's also really unlikely you'll get any BT meds or anything else for pain besides NSAIDs or steroids after you make that admission.
I wouldn't even consider to try to get meds from a pain doc while on MMT. That's as likely as my wife taking me back after I tell her I fucked her sister.
And clinics don't always have long intakes. I called around Minneapolis/ St. Paul when I was looking, the first one said it was a 4 hour thing, the second one said it'd be an hour and I wouldn't be able to get dosed. I went in and told them I was gonna be really sick if i didn't get dosed that day. They said, "okay, we'll give you a rush intake"
It took 20 minutes plus 5 minutes for a UA, and a AIDS video she turned on but told me not to watch and to fill out papers instead.

btw- the thing about my wife and her sister was made up for dramatic effect.
