It's got thiophene rings instead of bezene or cyclohexane rings like conventional opioids.
A whole new class of opioids could probably be built off of thiophene ring compounds.
This one exists and is used in vetrinary medicine. I'd LOVE to try it to see the flavor of this style opioid :D

There are without a doubt opioids that could be synthed with furan rings, pyrrole rings, oxazole rings, etc.
And they're all legal as of now because no reasonble peson could call them analogues because they've got totally different functional groups. Luclily, the shape matters a lot with u-opioid binding.
Of course, since when has the gov't been reasonalbe wrt drugs?

There are also most definitely opioids that could be synthesized that feel almost exactly subjectively like heroin euphoria and otherwise, but with less vulnerability to vomiting and nodding off all the way to sleep. Imagine that :D

i bet you hammilton and Paragoric kid will get a kick outta this.
they love the chemistry/science bits. but i guarantee you that 99 percent of us would
not be able to pick furan rings, pyrrole rings, oxazole rings, etc. out of a police line-up
are you talking to yourself in this thread? if you are, it's ok with me.

DMTB is a pretty well known drug of abuse, I don't know if the diethyl version has ever been encountered by LEOs, though. DMTB is C1, as I recall.
I wonder if other substitution patterns have been explored. I could go and look, but I'm too lazy right now.
WC, that pic is kinda scary, no?
Oh, and I kinda think a whole class of drugs are built of of the thiophene rings. At least a whole set of di-alkyl-thiambutenes.
Could you substitute thiphene rings or oxazole rings onto any existing opioid? Probably not. Ring shape is almost certain to do.
I'm sure some can be, or at least modified to make them work. That's pretty likely, anyway.
Larger rings will probably not fit into the receptor.

i fucking knew it. i love our chemists. long days and pleasant nights to them.

This was just discussed on BL, and so I'd looked at DMTB (the substitution pattern is similar to the Tapentadol we'd discussed).

i wish i knew what you guys were talking about. i like the kind of rings that get me loaded.

there are analogs of diethylthiambutene. thiambutenes are structurally similar to methadone, LAAM, propoxyphene. I posted about the thiambutenes a while back, they are veterinary opioids used in Japan.
