Do any of you have any hypocritical (apologies if spelt wrong) tales to tell of the law and those who enforce it. In my town, in common with many other towns I imagine, many people who break the law do so to raise funds for the purchase of drugs( usually smack but increasingly crack as well. Probably the most common way is by shoplifting ( whilst I don't condone such behaviour, I am well aware that shoplifters cost the rest of lots of money because the products that we buy are dearer to compensate for the shopkeepers loss; however I do understand the desparation of smack addiction that forces people to steal, I've been lucky enough to function relatively normally ie working and also have the ultimate support from my family but I am well aware that there for the grace of god go I etc....). Anyway some years ago one of the members of our friendly (not!!) local drug squad was caught shoplifting a bottle of wine.:wasntme: :speechles He was eventually convicted for the offence, claimed it was due to the stress of his job and was sentenced to something like probation,(nothing too serious anyway.) The most surprising thing however is that not only was he not sacked from the police force, but he has since been promoted from constable to 'detective sergeant'.....what more can I say
